What you are about to see are the two TV commercials that resulted in my recent FR article: FL Teachers Union Goes Ballistic Over: New TV ads, showing FL "Teachers of the Year" Support Jeb
These tv commercials are posted on the Republican Party of Florida's web site. To view the two spots, click the 2nd "button" to start the commercial on the tv screen here.
Enjoy!
PS Now that Gov. Bush is a tv star, eveyone wants his autograph:
Jeb signs autographs for his fans.

FYI. Note the 2nd commmercial is really a direct response to critics complaining he cut FL's education budget -- when, in fact, he actually increased it.

FL Teachers Union bananas!
If it drove the Union bananas, then I gotta love it! :O)
Bush bump!
To: MeeknMing
MeeknMing, You should watch them -- click the link above. The ad agency did a good job producing these spots, and Jeb (and the teachers) came off great. Thanks for the bump! :)

bttt. Let's get this thread hoppin'! I love the autograph photo. I've never heard of a governor having young fans. Jeb fans set yet another trend.

Those were great ads. Not just one teacher of the year, but several from consecutive years. That will cause a lot of damage to his critics' arguments.
To: Republican Wildcat
Yes, these are great ads. Thanks for watching them. And, you're right -- these ads are driving his critics nuts....

summer, great info. here. Thanks so much. Was wondering if you could help me out. I can't seem to get any sound on the commercial. Only pics. The link mentions a script of the commericals but when I go to the site I don't see any mention of the scripts. Could you help find the scripts for me. I'd love to read what all the fuss is about??
btw, back when I was teaching in public schools (I home school now) I backed out of the teacher union because of their support of abortion issues. I was the only teacher not in the union and boy was I ever given the cold shoulder. People need to know the guts it takes teachers to remove themselves from the union. It's not an easy road. I applaud those teachers on the commericals.

The Communist Teachers Party (NEA) of Florida and the Demonrats must truly be going insane that the Republicans have stolen "their" issue and are beating them like a drum with it.
To: AmericaUnited
Oh, I think "insane" is putting it mildly... :)

Why don't you contrast this with Reno coming onto a campus and the children running in fear from the Frankenstein monster?

Run a nice ad of Reno with a match followed by the building at Waco burning. Works for me!

That will cause a lot of damage to his critics' arguments. All the teacher unions have to do is explain to the voters how it really is: The teachers and the teachers unions are two different things. The teachers don't know the score, like the union bosses do. The teachers probably don't know any politicians on a first name basis. The teachers don't control any purse strings. Not seeing the big picture, the teachers don't understand that the real objectives of compulsory state schooling are union membership, union dues, and union power. So the voters should just ignore the teachers and vote the straight Democrat ticket. Like they learned in school.

The teachers and the teachers unions are two different things.
You've got that right. But, some teachers are starting to figure this out...

Hi Boxsford, Thanks for your great post.
The sound works on my computer, and you might want to check the sound controls on your speakers or whatever.
As to the scripts, I see what you mean, as the links now go to different info on the teachers union site. I will try to post a script if I can find one, but so far I haven't. If I can't locate one, I'll transcribe one for you and post it here.
Thanks again for your terrific post. :)
