Rainy, clammy, chilly, RAW
I arrived at a not-so-punctual-due-to-work 5:35 to find that our local weekly protestor had arrived at 4:30. Evidently Bo-Gunner was informed by Little Bill that the commie-terrorist hordes were going to be there and wanted some of the action.
With him were 2 Jewish gentlemen I had met back in March, complete with signs and Israeli flags. I was warmly welcomed with my signs Teach your children peace, not suicide bombing (corrected for spelling) and Jenin was a LIE, what else is and of course a US flag to augment it all. It is necessary to say that the commie-horde was kept down in numbers due to the drizzle. At their peak, they numbered 23 to our 8. Jonatron and Seamole were on-hand as well as a few more pro-Israeli crew.
The terrorists walked in their endless circle, chanting their monotonous dribble (which I will no longer quote, since its always the same). On-hand for them was the couple of IAC paid protestors that always accompany the terrorists, plus a student or twoall the rest are fair-weather friends of terrorists.
The only comment made by on of the terrorists was that Jenin was spelled incorrectly, which may be trueif I wrote it in Arabic. Such is their MOhe didnt claim that there was anything factually wrong about what I had to say. In the middle of their chanting, Bo-Gunner started the most butchered version of God Bless America that these fragile ears have ever heard, but it drowned out the Plaza-rats that were putting out whispers of chants, without much energy.
Two lessons learned:
1) The commies/terrorists/Al-Aqsa-Murder-Brigade supporters are afraid of rain, which also affects the morale of those that do show up.
2) Freepers are drawn to rain in un-heard of numbers in Boston. I say bring on the rain.
LOL! Is that the 'pucker effect'?
This FReepin' stuff leads one in different directions and leads to new experiences, much like the recruiting SGT told me in '65.
There are many things that modivate us. I caught the end of the November FReep, I was working nights, sucks to be in the power biz, but I am older and my kids are grown.
The thing that a lot of FReepers don't realize is that it is not going out with a sign and yelling at an obvious enemy but getting active in your community and working to further the ideas of the Founders is the thing that counts.
Electric, Jonatron, Michaelje, Thirstyman, awestk,Peacecorpsguy, Lady Jane, Al from Wayland, seamole, and the others that I have forgotten who have shown up at the stuff that we do, we love you, but we are the visable part. You, who go to the City Council meetings, City Committee meetings, and make your voice heard are the heart of the NE Chapter of FReeRepublic, we make noise and we would love to have your help, but we need the work that YOU can do at the Local level.
........ ...... ......
There were definitely less jihadis this time. One of the guys on our side reminded them that they could only have their demonstrations because they live in a free country, and from the other side of the street, he said "You're right!"
The 'vibes' were much more benign this time, which had been very negative and disturbing last time.
The whole thing just kind of fizzeled out with both sides joking around from across the street and one pro-Israel guy saying "peace" and "go along" in arabic as they loaded their women into their car and left.
It was less hateful this time.
So maybe, just maybe these people are getting sick of supporting terrorist maniacs and starting to realize that the USA and Israel are the 'good guys' and Arafart is just a criminal gangster.
Even so, we didn't get a chance to say bye, they just kind of all vanished.
Well, I'm getting sleepy...g'night!
Are you kidding me?? I am in absolute amazement Bill.. Will there be a post on the Maine Freep Also? were you able to take pictures or were your cameras confiscated as possible weapons also? (Sarcasm)
Thank you Bill for your hard diligent work to FR! Hats off to you...
Back in the early 70's, the best FReepin' I ever saw was in the bleachers at Fenway, over looking the visitors bull pen when the Yankees were in town. $2.50 for a day game during the week, best baseball ever, some of the stuff I saw would get us all arrested.
The best part of it was that I and many of the people who went to the games went to high school with some of the players on the Sox. Remember Tony Conigliaro(SP) and no white shirts shirts in right field, my brother used to whoop on his when they went to high school to gether.
