Ridge Says Terrorism Is Permanent

Somebodys thinking about job security...

What a bunch of BS! They know damn well what to do to significantly curtail backward-a$$ ISLAMIC terrorism and don't do it. As usual, the gov's lack of common sense and un-ending submission to the politically-correct doctrine of politics kick the average American Joe in the a$$. Guv'mommy will take care of everything!

"we are naive. We have got to believe there are more here."

We all know that.

They are here under visas granted by U.S. Consulates in the Middle East. They are Arabs and Muslims. They must be deported.

It's not a War on Terrorism. It's a war against Terrorist Groups of Global Reach. The War on Poverty and the War on Drugs are ill-defined and always will be since there are no specific persons involved. Same with the War on Terrorism.

When those persons who are members of Terrorist Groups of Global Reach are apprehended, then the war will be over. If it is merely terrorism that is the enemy, the war cannot be won or even fought. Close the Office of Home Security, beef up the FBI and the INS, and follow the Terrorist Groups of Global Reach back to their lair. Also, find someone who can actually read their book and read it to the members of the Terrorist Groups of Global Reach since they apparently are illiterate.

Here comes the police state.

It's for our own good.

War is peace and peace is war.

Thus the War on Terror is Permanent.

Say, I recall once reading a book set in a country waging permanent war.

Not a very nice ending, that one. Something about a boot in a face.

Must respectfully disagree with you.

How else can a very small (but extreme) minority, get significant attention, and dictate actions by a majority of people? As long as there is a pacifist majority, who are unwilling to go in and kill the extremist minority; there will be terrorism. When a minority of extremists who's moral clarity cannot distinguish between combatants and children, there will be terrorism. I for one, have formed a view that author Frank Hubert (Dune series) had a point. His book claimed that there are 'men', and 'animals that walk on 2 legs' in society, and the only way to distuingish between the two was by their actions. I view the terrorists as nothing more than dangerous animals.

This comes off as a "CYA" tactic. So the next time a major terrorist attack occurs in USA borders the gov't can say, we told you this would happen.

What needs to be done is a ruthless destruction of terrorist groups operating in the US, and severe punishment (whatever that may be) for state sponsorers of terrorism.

Not this wishy-washy, oh well terrorism will happen but were doing our best to stop it. This is the exact method the War on Drugs has been fought, and we all know how successful that has been.

Get with the program, RW. If we declare war on individuals, and the individuals are killed, then the war is over. Wars mean popularity. Popularity means votes. Wars also mean lots and lots of tax dollars and carte blanche on how to spend them. Do you really think George Bush or anyone else in government will declare a war that actually ends?

then the war is over

Planting season is just weeks away. Finish the war so I can git home and yoke up the oxen. The Missus can do it, but it ain't a pretty sight. It's a man's work, so let's find the SOB, shoot him, and git home.

"We are at war. If we think there are only 20 terrorists – the one we just caught and the 19 others" who attacked on Sept. 11, he said, "we are naive. We have got to believe there are more here."

Did Mr. Ridge just wake up ? Or more likely, thinks the sheep are just waking up ?

I don't think alot of folks have seen/heard about it yet.
Usually shortly following the posting of something like this, what usally happens is a flood of blindfolded koolaid drinkers with who jump up and down shreiking "tinfoil!" while stuffing their ears with cotton and droning on about how cleverly Bush didn't apologize to Red China by apologizing to Red China, and how dreamy the reelection strategy of "out-Clintoning Clinton" is, chanting about the virtue of electing republicans who legislate just like the democRATs they replaced.

I suppose he's right, assuming we change neither our immigration nor foreign policy.

Still, it's sickening.

Say, I recall once reading a book set in a country waging permanent war.

So when cameras start going up in public places, and more of our money starts going towards the government, and government officials began discussing IDs and suspension of parts of the Constitution we should be worried shouldn't we? Oh wait, ummm...
