CATHOLIC ACTION
COPPER SUNDAY
May 19, 2002
If you are Catholic and you favor
(1)ONE STRIKE, YOU'RE OUT,
(2)criminal prosecution of all perpetrators of sex crimes
(whether cardinals, bishops, priests or deacons),
(3)weeding homosexuals out of the seminaries; and,
(4)the promotion of orthodox leaders in the Church
show your displeasure with the current inaction
of the US Catholic Cardinals and US bishops by putting only a single penny in the collection basket on Sunday, May the 19th, 2002.
Remember to pray, fast, and make sacrifices for the welfare of the Catholic Church, for the Pope, and for Christ's godly and holy priests.
Remember to pray a ROSARY FOR PRIESTS on Sunday MAY 12th.

Thanks for the ping. Someone needs to put this in the form of a clear, concise and pithy e-mail. If we all of us concenred Freepers forwarded it to our Catholic friends, this will be very, very big by May 19.
To: IM2Phat4U; history_matters
With h-m's permission, I think the
Catholic Family Association of America just might adopt this as a project. We have a large email list already, and I think its worth pursuing. I already emailed it to Tim for his consideration.
To: Dr. Brian Kopp; IM2Phat4U
Please do with it whatever you can. If someone can put it into a better e-mail form for all of us to use, that would be excellent.

I'm not Catholic, but it sure is a good idea.
Nothing like a little monetary shortfall to get their attention
I hope it works.

I think this is great. There is a certain style and format that goes into those e-mails that folks love to forward and forward and forward. I hope the Doctor will give it a shot.

Copper Sunday makes cents to me. (I'm sorry, I never could pass up a truly juvenile play on words)
I do sincerely agree that it is a good idea.

I have just received a request from my Pastor to donate to Catholic Charities and I will send the request back to the Bishop with a notation.
My note will read," we will redirect our donations to other charities until trust is restored, get rid of the perverts and criminals from our Church". I will also follow your suggestion of "Copper Sunday".

Bump. Please let me know when the 'pithy' email is written. I've got some people who should probably get one. This is an idea that could really balloon.
To: chatham
Count me in for "Copper Sunday". I'll give my donation that week to the beautiful nuns who run a soup kitchen in our town.

Right - money talks; bs walks.
The thing is, I'll probably be the only one in my parish to do this! They publish the collection amounts each week, and there has been no drop whatsoever.
To: american colleen
You could give the information about Copper Sunday to a local newspaper, and then your neighbors would learn about it.
To: Palladin
Amen, until these arrogant asses understand we really mean business and start performing, cut off the "Cash Flow".
Give your donation to some one you can trust and are sure they are not using the money to Pay perverts in retirement.
Let the bishop know what you have decided to do with your donations and Why! If he don't like it all he has to do is do his Job the right way!

1PE 1:18-19 - "For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect."

I am sorry. I support all the causes above, but I can't withhold my tithe to my church. Ours is a very poor parish of mostly immigrants, with only a handful of people contributing to the collection. Majority of the people are Latinos who seem to be "transient" parishioners (who claim to belong to other parishes but come to our church only to visit with friends and relatives) and are not regular contributors.
We have a well-loved pastor. He's from Nicaragua but educated as a physician in the U.S. and he's trying his very best to energize his fellow Latinos to contribute. Our pastor is prayerful, conservative, compassionate, and hardworking, and has a lot of charitable projects even for a parish our size. We minister to the sick and the dying, the day laborers, out-of-school youths, and working class families, and even to non-Catholics. We need all the financial help we can get.
I will continue praying for the clergy in the U.S. What's happening to our Church in the U.S. is so distressing but I trust that Our Lord Jesus Christ will make known His plans for us and accomplish it. Our God does work in mysterious ways! The good God is very good! He will not allow His Church to be victimized by evil, as He promised.
I wish you the best on this project. I hope it works. But I am sorry, I can't go with you on this.
Peace and all good.

Perhaps you can contribute directly to the causes sponsored by your parish, but still withhold on Sunday as a protest against the Episcopates lack of will in dealing with a great evil.
Your money would then stay within your parish and a message would be received by the local bishop. Your priest may be able to lead you in a way to still help the parish and the poor while making sure the message is received by those that need to hear it.

I will be a May 19th 'copper' participant. I will send my contribution to:
His Holiness Pope John Paul II
The Apostolic Palace
La Santa Sede
00120 Vatican City
ITALY
Europe
With my contribution, I will include the news story Church uncovers file on Shanley NAMBLA activity and an attachment of the encouragement and support unrepentant sodimites and lesbians are receiving from Cleveland's Bishop Pilla ( Gay and Lesbian Family Ministry Catholic Diocese of Cleveland) in addition to similar support the sodimites are getting within the San Francisco Bay Area.
I will inform the Holy Father I can not in good conscience encourage, through my financially support of the diocese and the American Roman Catholic Church, unrepentant sodimite and lesbian low-life degenerate sinners.
To: history_matters;Judith Anne; kimosabe31; Mensch; Dr. Brian Kopp; allend; JosephW; rbmillerjr...
I will further remind the Holy Father it is these degenerates that are attacking the sanctity of the family, seeking to have government endorse lesbian and sodimite parenting of children, and receiving the Holy Sacraments while flaunting their sin in the His House.
