Just heard on WABC, New York,
anthrax has been discovered in the Post Office
which Mrs. Lundgren used.
Probably not a new 'attack'
but why did it take them so long
to find it????

She died of anthrax last year during the attacks. A piece of junk mail was contaminated they believe second hand. Nothing found in home.

Thanks, I had forgotten about her.

Remnants shaken out in Spring Cleaning, they should have let the sleeping dogs lie.

This was in Wallinford, CT. Was this Mrs Ludgren's town?
She died in her hometown of Oxford. Wallingford, I believe, is like the main post office in CT where the mail comes into the state. Its not really all that close from what I understand.

Not any more "bizarre" than you and 3-4 of your co-workers getting a cold but a couple of people in your office NOT getting the cold.
Anthrax doesn't instantly infect EVERYONE who comes into contact with a single spore; in the 5 Billion people on earth, there are probably a handful of old, susceptible people who WILL get sick and die from a few spores (unfortunately Lundgren was likely among those number.) On the other hand, there are likely a handful of people (unvaccinated) who you could blow 5-lb flour bags full of weapons-grade anthrax on to with a fan and they'd never even get sick. In between is the rest of the population of the world.

"Who is Ms. Lundgren?"A little old lady who died of anthrax last year.
Most likely a routine test, using newer, more sensitive equipment, sniffed a spoor missed by the previous cleanup.
The sky isn't falling yet.

Probably not a new 'attack' but why did it take them so long to find it????I suspect there's been another suspected case. Otherwise, they wouldn't be testing for it to rule it out.

Thanks for the heads ups!

I have a theory that none of the anthrax letters came through that post office, but a few pieces did, that had contact with a letter or contaminated machine in another place. This lady was elderly and had little resistance to the anthrax. There was very little to begin with and the grade of some of this stuff is said to be more lethal than our scientists have ever made.
I understand that trace amounts have been found three different times at this PO. But only traces.
To: Nogbad
why did it take them so long to find it????Anthrax is useful as a weapon because it can stay dormant for decades, and it's not exactly easy to detect bacterial spores...
