CNN's Begala, on reports that GOPers are boycotting "Crossfire": "I have a message for the nameless, gutless whimperers out there. Quit whining. Unlike some other shows, we here at 'Crossfire' actually present both sides of the issue. Every single night, we welcome the leading lights of the Republican right on to battle against their ideological foes. Carville and I make no apologies for being tough, nor do Tucker and Bob. That's what makes this show different. Look, if you want namby-pamby one-sided arguments go to Fox. But if you're tough enough and you're smart enough to go toe-to-toe with people who actually know how to debate, welcome to CNN. Welcome to the new 'Crossfire.'
More Begala: "A guy called me from the New York Post who's covering this and said that somebody on the Hill has actually accused me of planting this story because he thinks he's right. Our bookings are up there." CNN's Carlson: "Did you plant this?" Begala: "Actually, I did not. I wish I were that smart. If I had--" Carlson: "I think you're diabolical enough." Begala: "Never, no" ("Crossfire," 4/23).
Toobin's hiring by Isaacson is just another questionable decision for CNN. How do you fight bias charges like that? The guy says in PRINT that Bush should not be president right now.
CNN has done a better job of networking, IMO. They have a machine set up that is much better than Fox's, but their slant is so bad that I won't watch them. Haven't had CNN on for five minute since FoxNews came to my cable system.
I do feel that Fox is self-serving, but at least they're self-serving with a right leaning.
Ask Walter! LOL: isaacson@aol.com
"You mean the Roger Ailes who hired Paula Zahn....Geraldo Rivera...Greta VanSusteren?
He has already heard plenty from me and I no longer watch Fox News Channel. Get all my news right here."
Granted Freep is the best resource on the Web, but come on. I think Ailes has done a fantastic job backing up the Fair and Balanced credo of Fox News by bringing in a wider rnage of voices- more credibility means our voice gets heard by more - look at how Fox has pummeled CNN in the past few months!
Now that's good for everyone
Roger Ailes is a man of honor as my Free Republic post here proves:
Roger Ailes of Fox News needs our help!
We must fight the "New Progessive Donor" spin machine that I discussed here:
What Democrats Do When They Have No Ideas Upon Which to Run Upon....
But, this is how grown-up Liberals take out their frustration at not "belonging" when they were kids. Same could probably be said of the 'Outer Limits' icon twins, Carville and Begala.
P.S. -- I watched 'Crossfire' for about 3 whole minutes one evening -- it's an embarassment.
Hmmm, I may have to tune in once just to behold that!
Thanks,
TC
LOL...you're right, he is!
Right on, as usual. I'm enjoying just sitting back and watching the death throes. The thing that strikes me is that the new "Crossfire" format is only a little more obvious than it's been since I started watching it in the 80s. I've long decried having Novak go up against even the likes of Bill Press, not because I dislike Novak but because he's rather inarticulate and tries to tell the truth. The truth is never as glitzy as the lies told by spinners like Press and the present gang . He also has the TV presence of a Richard Perle, known in the media as "The Prince of Darkness." In fact I think that's the nickname for Novak on that other CNN talking heads show with Margaret Carlson (from "Time," like Isaacson) I gave up watching several years ago.
Remember the old adage: a lie goes halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on.
Agreed. And speaking for myself- I had eight years of the garbage they peddled- don't need any more of it.
I never waste my time watching these two because I know what they're going to say before they say it! Why bother to torture myself watching people I don't like, to learn nothing new.
