It's tough to be surprised by the Sleaze Party of Condit, Kennedy, Clinton, Flynt, et. al.....

Gee...I wonder why MurryMom doesn't ever show up on these kinds of threads. Perhaps she knows that she is what she supports.

Did they do DNA test on the two of them?

That's outrageous, because then the city would have to come up with the money from someplace else. What a jerk!

What wrong with liquidating his assets. He is the one that had all the fun, not the tax payers.

Who's uglier? Marilyn or Monica?

She's not unattractive in these shots, and would probably be quite attractive with a smile on her face.

I know her personally and she is rather pretty, though this situation has taken a toll on her. Still, I don't have a lot of sympathy for her because I think she could/should have broken away long ago. I also think that if Norquist did force himself on her he should get a good butt whoopin' from her family.

His contributors should have known what they were getting in to because he is a Democrat!

Careful,,,those words may taste fairly bitter if you have to eat them later. As you know, bums come in all political ideologies.

Better to stick with ideas, you may be embarrassed by the ones you entertain, but the ideas themselves are powerless to be an embarrassment.

I don't believe in having affairs.  That being said, there are always contributing issues.  The guy may be a schmuck.  His wife may have been one too.  People do make mistakes.  I have a hard time believing this guy's five year affair was conducted as a result of the woman thinking her department would lose funds if she didn't put out.  Six moths, a year maybe, five years and I don't buy it.

Sounds to me like the woman was angry that the affair had ended and wanted to obtain her pound of flesh.

Feeling this way, I don't think the man owes her anything.  She entered into the arrangement knowing full well what his obligations were.  When it's time to break it off, own up to your own responsibility lady.

If there's more to this, then I might consider a different opinion.

I don't think it's right for his campaign fund to be tapped for this.  I don't think it's right that community property be used either, since the wife winds up losing twice under those circumstances.

These two entered into an arrangement that wound up the only way it could have other than breaking up his marriage.  I suspect his wife will make his life a living hell for long enough to make him pay for this.  No need to levy hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines for what was a consensual arrangement.

My point is he could have probably paid for it on the street and gotten it better and cheaper!

. . . somehow I think Milwaukeans might just re-elect him . . .

Not if I can help it. His despicable behaviour when G. W.Bush and Vicente Fox were in town put me over the top. Consider me highly motivated for the opposition.

Here is the opposition, according to the Journal Sentinel:

          Common Council President Marvin Pratt
          State Rep. Antonio Riley
          Ald. Thomas Nardelli
          Municipal Judge Vince Bobot
          Circuit Judge Jeff Wagner
          U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett

You'll be seeing the goods on these guys shortly. 2004 will be here soon enough . . .

Very true, but a man who delights in demeaning a woman does not get nearly the charge out of demeaning a stranger as he does from harrassing someone he sees every day who cannot speak up. It's a real power trip. He's a mean SOB who is known to be a tyrant around city hall, despite his mild appearance and demeanor. The tales leaked from the depositions were ugly.

I don't think the man owes her anything.

Apparently the City Attorney thought otherwise and thought that there was a good chance they'd lose this one, after all the depositions were taken. That is the reason for the settlement. When it came out over the weekend that the mayor was going to stick the city's workers' compensation fund for this, there were such howls of protest that he came forward with this offer to use his campaign funds. This case has been going on for two years, so there was plenty of time to look at the evidence. The only reason anyone thought the case might be dismissed was that Marilyn waited almost too long to file. That is why the settlement is so small -- she can be compensated only for the incidents that happened in the last months of her employment, at the end of the affair. She didn't speak up soon enough.

I think she was a woman who had been promoted beyond her education and pay grade. Although I think she's smart and competent (everybody says so, and she's working for a State Senator now), I don't think she thought of herself that way. I think she thought of herself as a single mom with a minimum education who had to *put out* to keep her well paid job. There is some mental instability there, too, that manifested into at least one suicide attempt after all this hit the papers.

I spared no words of contempt for Newt, and I won't even watch him when he comes on TV. I just switch the channel.

I realize that what you're saying makes sense. There's also the legal climate we find ourselves in today, where just about anyone can claim damages and have a 50/50 chance of recieving an award. Perhaps the city attorney simply didn't want to face that prospect.

In certain positions it sure pays to kep your fly zipped. In reality that's the truth for everyone who's married, but the simple fact that he held the job he did exposed him to all manner of legal exposure.

Well, he should have known that going in.

Thanks for the comment.

I don't blame you for not caring for Newt, but I'm not as strident about it as you seem to be. At least he didn't have her servicing him when he was on the phone with people across the nation. If I remember correctly, Newt married the woman he was seeing.

Although his character sure had flaws, I don't rank him anywhere near what Clinton was. Newt was not hitting on every barely legal aged intern in sight, as well as every other dame on the planet. And some of Newt's political ideas were brilliant.

Still he did expose himself to blackmail. Oh well...

I am really disappointed about this. I was all geared up for the protests. Had a few signs in mind. My personal favorite was "Knobquist: STAY OUT THE BUSH!"

Hope I did not offend any family types. But then, I pale by comparison to our recent demonRAT leaders.

Personally, to me it would have been worth $350k+ if he left, NOW! Good riddance, ya jerk.

And some of Newt's political ideas were brilliant.

That they were, and that it what makes me so angry. He really let the chance of a lifetime slip through our fingers. To his credit, he said not a word during the Clinton fiasco, and I thought that strange at the time. But think about how much help he would have been to the Republicans and to the impeachment process if he had not been compromised by his own behavior...

the simple fact that he [Norquist] held the job he did exposed him to all manner of legal exposure. Well, he should have known that going in.

He thought he could get away with it. After all, Clinton did. As I said before, the man is tyrannical, according to insiders at City Hall. he has a brutal streak.

I could be wrong, but I think the pursuing was on Norquist's part. Not that I exonerate the lady, but he should've known better. One of her charges against him was rape. Power just goes to some men's heads.

Why is it that these pricks can't keep their pants zipped while in public office? Sheesh! Supporters should not be paying for his indiscretions and the city should not either. Let him rot!
