Remember, this is france. The tear gas they fire is probably no more effective than the collective B.O. of the protesters....

Nice to see the leftists following their usual playbook: When they don't get their way, whine and cry and destroy other peoples' property.

I think we're going to be seeing a lot of this over the next couple of years, as socialism starts to completely collapse across Europe.

Jospin announced on Sunday that he would quit politics after the May 5 runoff round, which polling institutes now forecast Chirac, a conservative, will win by a landslide.

Not really up on politics in France....Is Chirac really a conservative? And Le Pen an anti-Semite? Or does the French Press, like ours, ignore the facts?

This display by the Marxist enemies within will only strengthen Le Pen, the "law and order" candidate.

It's a shame this is happening. But these demonstrators are typical of why guys like Le Pen get into power. They keep electing fringe left buttholes so eventually the remaining conservatives get so sick of being marginalized that they go out and vote for the most rabidly right conservative they can find. Almost a death blow really. Either they connect and the socialists back off or facism (either left or right) takes root.

lol....My mother, Calpublican, IS IN PARIS RIGHT NOW!

Damn. I hope she's OK.

Actually, come to think of it, I'm suspecting she is the actual cause of this riot.

I just saw CNN International's take on this. Just a ten second blurb with a picture of police cars. They mentioned only a protest--no mention of rioting, no mention of teargas or "crash helmet"ed thugs, no mention of looting or vandalism, no politically-incorrect pictures of immigrants...

Then they went on to the protests in Washington and spent a full two minutes, making sure to mention how peaceful and wonderful these lefties are. Yech.

4,000 demonstrators shouted "Le Pen, you're finished. The French are on the streets"

This is a truly comical mental picture. What came next? "We arrrre on zee streets! Waaatch out you silly Engleesh type persons! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!"

GOD ya gotta love this happening in France. Just something to stir up the masses. Use tear gas and water hoses on the crowds. How can this happen in this obviously superior country? Ah Ha Ha Ha AH Ha Ha Ha. Go Le Pen, raise hell.

Ahhh, this is so ho-hum. French kids protest all the time. And most of the time they don't even know what they're protesting. You could stand in the middle of Paris waving around a sign calling for castration of gay whales and a bunch of French students would join with you.

I saw this happen about ten years ago in Paris. Was one of the funniest things I ever saw in my life :-)

This election appears to be the latest example of a return to sanity among the Europeans - It's so predictable to see the leftist public radio types piss in their pants over Le Pen's victory. Just proves that once people realize the deception and corruption of the left, they will arise in triumph.

The press is so unbiased. Don't you love how they have permanetly classified him as a Far-right leader?

Just a question. What exactly does he mean when he calls the Holocuast "a detail" in history? What exactly is he trying to say about it?

Le Pen's comment on fascism is close to the mark. Le Pen has waged a gentlemanly campaign, so far as I can see. (I was in Paris from April 9 to the 17th.) It was the Le Pen posters that were being defaced by the Left. It was Le Pen who was being smeared. It was the anti-Le Pen groups that fell into hysteria and the tactics of intimidation.

I do not suspect that Le Pen will win in the run off. There are still too many, with too long a history, of identification with the Left in France. If most of them who bother to vote, join the large French Center under Chirac, Chirac will indeed win by the landslide predicted. Nevertheless, the gradual upward trend for Le Pen--I believe that he was at 14% in 1995--is encouraging. That he defeated the Socialist candidate, and obtained 5 times the vote of the Communist candidate, are truly good omens.

Of course, Le Pen is not the Far Right in French politics, but the Far Right today are so outnumbered that they do not even field candidates. However, there are still those who would restore the Bourbons--which is the true Far Right in France.

Go, Le Pen. The Pen is mighter than the Socialists?

Seriously, the press always paints someone as extremist when they're running on a platform that is against The Plan.
