The Freepers are at it again.
The D.C. chapter of the conservative website, FreeRepublic.com, is sponsoring a "Patriots Rally for America" on April 20th. The event, to be held in front of the Washington Monument in the nation's Capital, will feature speakers such as former Congressmen Bob Dornan; Joseph Farah, CEO of WorldNetDaily.com; and Larry Klayman, Chairman of Judicial Watch.
The event was organized in order to show support of U.S. troops in Afghanistan along with providing a counter voice to liberal groups such as the 911 Peace Network that oppose the ongoing war on terror.
In 1996, Free Republic was founded by Jim Robinson, a man who describes himself only as a "private citizen from Fresno California." Robinson founded the site as a gathering place where like-minded individuals could discuss and vent their frustration with the corruption of the Clintons. Within a short period of time Free Republic became the virtual staging ground for conservatives around the country to organize and fight back by holding rallies and protests at any given time.
The members of FreeRepublic.com, formally known as "Freepers", are hardened protest veterans having held numerous large-scale events and hundreds of small or impromptu protests around the country. These past events where normally staged to express nothing less then outrage with the actions of the Clinton administration.
Unlike the frothing protests of other groups, the Freepers always abide by a "code of civil conduct" during their gatherings. When approached by someone who opposes their viewpoint, the Freepers always make a fact base case with courtesy and sometimes a little humor. Their golden rule is to never become violent or profane. Check their website for tales of this positive approach, they shouldn't be hard to find.
Regardless of their familiarity with the protest circuit, the Patriots Rally for America will be a completely new experience for them. This time they are in the majority. During the Clinton years, Americans who opposed the president and where willing to voice their concerns where few and far between. Most people where either placated by the boom of the Internet economy or were afraid of being labeled as right-wing nuts, Clinton haters, extremists or worse. Regardless of what they were labeled as, the Freepers stood their ground as a vocal minority.
The rally taking place on April 20th will not only be a show of support for the Bush administration and the United States Military, it will also be a culmination of years of hard work by Free Republic to make patriotism an accepted value in mainstream America.

I know those of you from the DC Chapter have put in a lot of time and dedication for the preservation of our country, but in general Freepers are not "hardened protest veterans." Most of us were simply driven over the edge with the idiocy and blatant irresponsibility of Clinton... and if that wasn't enough, Al trying to thwart democracy brought us to action.
Sorry to hear it. IG.
Hope your bruises don't interfere with getting the corn in and other chores, and that you're feeling better soon.
Huggs and get better soon.
