[history]
The father of a teenager accused of fatally shooting a 12-year-old boy in Foresthill was arrested Tuesday on a charge of failing to limit his son's access to the pistol.
The father, 41, was taken into custody in Placer County Juvenile Court in Auburn just minutes after an arraignment hearing for his 15-year-old son, who was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder. The Bee is withholding the father's name so as not to identify the juvenile.

So, if someone I hunt with a lot borrows a gun from me one day and kills someone, accidently or not or whatever, will the sherrif be knocking on my door?
If a thief breaks into my house while I'm on vacation and steals my pistol, then shoots someone with it, will I be charged?
If I go hunting and somehow lose a gun, and someone later finds it and kills somebody - is that my fault?
What a load.

Your answer is probably yes, yes and yes - if you live in Kommiefornia, Maryland, Washington DC or New Yawk City.
If you live someplace else, the answer is "maybe".

In Washington State a few years ago, Gates funded an initiative that could have held someone responsible for the future misuse of a gun that they once owned. Even if you sell a gun to your friend who stores it in his gun safe where it is stolen and then used to commit a crime you could have been charged if the initiative had passed.
