THE PATRIOTS RALLY FOR AMERICA - Washington, DC - April 20, 2002
DC Chapter of Free Republic/Rally4America.org ^ | April 8, 2002 | Angelwood, Kristinn, Dave Dilegge, tgslTakoma

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, Rally4America.org and our co-sponsors, NorthernVirginiaGOP.com and RepublicanAction.com, invite you to attend The Patriots Rally for America (the "Rally") to be held in Washington, D.C. on April 20, 2002 at the Washington Monument.

The Rally will be held on the Northwest Quadrant of the Washington Monument grounds near the intersection of 17th Street, N.W. and Constitution Avenue, N.W.

A view of the Rally site from the area where the stage will be set up.

The Patriots Rally for America will be a family-friendly event. The purpose of the Rally is to show public support for the United States of America and to support our troops out there fighting for our freedom, putting their own lives on hold and at great risk, and fighting an enemy that doesn't take prisoners. We must win the war on terrorism.

Nationally-known conservative leaders and friends of Free Republic are being invited to speak at the Rally; we have received several confirmations as of this date. We will announce the line-up of speakers as we get closer to the day of the Rally.

We have set a tentative schedule for the Rally to begin at 11:00 a.m. and end around 3:00 p.m. We encourage people to plan to arrive early, especially if they will be driving to D.C. We will be on-site well before the scheduled start of the Rally and will begin playing pre-recorded music at 10:00 a.m. Patriotic music and pagaentry will start and finish the Rally.

The Rally will be held come rain or shine. The Park Service allows folks to bring picnic blankets, lawn chairs, etc.; but, alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the Mall by law.

We are asking those who attend the Rally to bring American flags, large and small, and signs with messages supporting America and our troops. Please inform your families, friends and co-workers and urge them to attend The Patriots Rally for America on April 20.

This will be a great opportunity to peacefully counter the anti-war rallies and march being held the same day in other areas of D.C. by the usual collection of America-hating communist/leftist/anarchist groups.

The survival of America is at stake in the war on terrorism. We cannot, and will not, allow the America-hating left to take to the streets unanswered, as happened during Vietnam.

The estimated cost of the Rally for stage, sound system, porta-potties and other expenses is $4,500. Members of the D.C. Chapter are paying for the Rally out of our own pockets; however, we could use some help. If you would like to contribute to the success of the Rally, please go to the Rally4America.org site. Arrangements have been made for donations using Paypal or by mail. We will also need volunteers to help at the Rally. Please contact Angelwood (angelwood8@earthlink.net). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please mark your calendar for April 20 and stay tuned for further announcements.

I've reposted this announcement thread. Please bump it so as many people as possible are aware of the Rally on April 20. Thank you.

The Patrick Henry Chapter,(North East Ohio), will be there, at least two of us. Looking forward to a great time, and meeting some Freepers from other areas of the country. Rain OR Shine.

For us midwesterners, do you have any sage advice on parking in Washington? We will have at least flags, and if we can get more people to come we will bring signs from our Veteran's Day Freep at the Browns game.

I know not to run stop lights in Washington, unless I am feeling photogenic, but I understand the parking is horrible. Any suggestions?
