As a reminder to folks, Fox News Sunday comes on twice, once on the Fox Network in the morning (check your local listing), and again on Fox News at 6:00 Eastern/3:00 Pacific.
Thankfully, I'll be in Church during McCain's babblings (no doubt still ticked off about who stole the stawberries).

I hope those who post here will take into account those of us who won't be able to watch the shows and will post summations of what is said. Thanks so much!

Ah, yes! The strawberries!

Colin Powell on Fox News Sunday with Tony Snow. Q: do you believe Arafat wants a cease-fire? A. Yes, in accordance with his statements. But we are disappointed that he has not taken the actions that would lead to a cease-fire, such as controlling the passions of his people."
Can we be more naive, or are we intentionally blind? Arafat, in Arabic, extols the "martyrs". He even talks about wanting to become a "martyr" himself, thus clearly encouraging others.
Arafat has been around for over 30 years. Can anyone remember any example of his word being good for anything? Why would he change now?
There might not be any good solution right now, but one thing is clear: any "solution" that is based on the assumption of Arafat's good faith is bound to fail.

Shouldn't Sen Chris Dodd (D-Conn) be busy with his pal Ted Kennedy making a "Waitress Sandwich?"

Sec. Powell is Arafat's lawyer, and a defender of Bill Clinton.
Powell says President Bush demands Israel withdraw now but is silent on terrorizing of Americans and Jews.
Powell says he will ask the Arabs if there are any demands he will make for Arafat.
Is he really on the side of the US? or of Pres. Bush? or of freedom?
What possible good is it for Hamas to run the US State Dept.?

McCain's babblings (no doubt still ticked off about who stole the stawberries).... ...but...but...we know the cooks stole and ate the strawberries. So did the loonie bird but he called a hunt for them anyway.
Sheesh...that does sound like McLame.

Russert confronted the U.S. PLO spokesman with a recent Arafat quote, calling people to sacrifice themselves to jihad. First , the fellow accuses Russert of being racist. Then he compares suicide bombers to Patrick Henry! ("Give me liberty...')

FNS Mailbag. Writer inquired about the "situation" between Britt and Juan, wondered if it was heading to a Celebrity Boxing round.
Celebrity Boxing with Britt and Juan...that would be worth watching. Although, Britt beats up on Juan (with words) on the program plenty. Juan usually loses the word battles and would probably lose the boxing round, as well.
Mara wants US to send peacekeepers to the Middle East. [Why put US soldiers in harms way, when Sharon finally seems to be handling the situation?]

Tony Snow asked Juan Williams a key question, considering that Juan's words are a window into the heart of Palestinian propaganda: - Juan, if Palestinians are justified in their actions because of their rage from their humiliation (one of Juan's favorite words), why are Israelis not justified in acting out of rage as well? Why do only the Israelis have to step back and act calmly?
Wm Kristol jumped in and did not allow Juan to answer. I have never liked Kristol - he is a waste of breath. Now I see that he thought his words were much more important than Juan's words. Can we add racial prejudice or just plain rudeness to Kristol's list of attributes?
Normally, Juan's opinion is just wrong! but he is useful in learning how the NPR crowd is talking to their listeners.

Can we be more naive, or are we intentionally blind? I don't think Powell suffers from any misunderstanding about the character of Arafat. He's making the trip to the middle east primarily to try to placate the Europeans and the Arab countries. I believe him when he says the administration is concerned by the backlash in countries such as Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Powell says on Fox, in response to a question on the effect of the Israeli situation on plans to oust Saddam in Iraq, that the President does not have a plan on his desk to take action against Iraq.
To: Alas Babylon!
Never missing an opportunity to diss the President, Kristal on Fox is talking about Bush, for the first time, retreating in the war on terror by not calling or acknowledging that Arafat is a terrorist. He seemed to take some satisfaction in repeating "retreat" numerous times, as if we didn't get it the first time. (Though Arafat is indeed a terrorist and always had been, Bush cannot label him so and expect to have his administration be able to talk with him. It's disagreeable, but necessary at this time given the situation in the middle-east).
(Now Kristal saying the Bush policy is the Clinton-Albright policy.)

bibi said arafatastan.

Brit responding (after the commercial break). Saying it is not the same. Saying further that the current administration has given tacit approval to Israel's action, and in no way has Bush given moral equivalence to Arafat's stand.
Mara saying that US involvement has to become even greater and US troops may be needed in the region to keep the peace!
No way!!
To: withteeth
he compares suicide bombers to Patrick Henry! ("Give me liberty...')Yes, I heard that exchange. I do not recall Patrick Henry being offered $20,000.
By the way did you hear him call Russert, Mr Tim.

Agree. The current Israeli-Palistinean conflict is taking away our attention from the threat of terrorists and giving them (and their facilitators like Saddam) more time to prepare for more acts of terrorism against us.
