Live Thread: President Bush and Prime Minister Blair Press Conference, Noon EST, 4/6/02
self | Saturday, April 6, 2002 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/06/2002 7:49:04 AM PST by kristinn

Live from Crawford, Texas, it's the George and Tony show.

Will George slap Bill and Yasser around again like he did last night? Will Tony come off as George's toy poodle? Will the press be their usual boorish selves ? Is Helen Thomas there ?

The answer to these and other questions will be answered at Noon eastern time.

President Bush, in his usual gracious way, just said that Clinton failed to bring peace to the Mid East- he damned him, with faint praise

Bet the ol'snorter is sitting somewhere feeding his fat face and going red all over. Hope his is seething, just a wee bit! hehe

You may be onto something as to something being awry...maybe their talks have so far been non-productive.

Or maybe they've shared some disturbing intelligence.

Now the larger issue of the MidEast events this week, and next week's possibilities....actually I feel better since Israel has taken strong measures, and the bombings have stopped for a few days.

It's over! Quick!

I am glad that I do not know what they surely must know and live with daily. I do know that Saddam is a genuine monster.

Bush's interview with iTV in Britain was quite frank and open. He made it crystal clear how he feels about Arafat and Saddam.

Blair was supposed to get a CIA briefing today. That may account for his nervousness.

I notice that President Bush, ever the gracious host, wore a coat and tie so as not to make Blair look like a dweeb. Those little things do mean a lot when entertaining, and kindnesses go a long way towards cementing friendships.

Was it just me or did the whole tone of the press conference change, after the first 3 questions. The joviality disappeared . President Bush became extremely forceful and passionate, when talking about Arafat and the tension meter went way up, when talking about Iraq. PM Blair was equally as passionate when talking about Iraq. Wonder what their intel is showing.

The two of them have done a great job so far in the war on terrorism. Taking out Saddam is big step.

Clearing out the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan was easily approved by the world community. Convincing the quislings in Europe and the Middle East to take out Saddam is much more difficult. It will happen, though, regardless of their support.

I noticed Blair had that look of discomfort. I think you are right in the sense alot more is going on than is what being said. Unfortunately the left wing idiotic press is not asking the right questions. I think alot of what is being discussed is how to forward a peace plan without a Nobel peace recipient being involved? Blair was wearing a mourning suit, hence the black tie and suit.

after ron fourney(sp)asked his question, what goofy reporter tried to weasel in and was slapped down by Bush with a 'nice try'? He's still slapping arafart and giving Israel time to mop up. Good job George. Loved the part where he said Arafart had never earned his trust to bgin with.

Is everyone deaf here. Bush and Blair have both also said that they expect Israel to pull out of Palestine. Immediately.

I am absolutely convinced that the CIA briefing showed more than Blair expected. He was very forceful and not wishy-washy.

I imagine the "agreement on problem but continuing discussion on how to proceed" is for the Europeans. I would guess Blair will be taking some info back to the Continent that they do not want to hear.

I hope you are right, for the safety and security and 'sanity' (or what is left of it) of our precious world. I wouldn't mind Castro being put on the terrorist list while we are at this...
