Oprah Winfrey fired back at the White House yesterday - saying she felt "extremely used" by the Bush administration for implying that she was too busy to tour Afghanistan schools on behalf of President Bush. Winfrey called her pal, "The View" co-host Star Jones, before yesterday's show and told Jones the story "was just not true."

Bush used her? Oh, please. Oprah's whining doesn't dismiss her obvious Political Correctness in not wanting to align herself with President Bush's Afghanistan initiative for women.

Oprah better hope the Bush admin can't document this - there's getting to be quite a history of libs charging the Bush people with not telling them something and then finding out that oh, oh a letter was sent after all etc.

She ought to tell it to Jonathan Franzen, the author of The Corrections whom she set up a few months back.

If people looked long and hard enough, I'm sure they could find a use for pond scum. I'm not sure that's true when it comes to Oprah.

The question is will he? I don't think so. Karen Hughes is one smart cookie. I
doubt whether Bush would have released the statement without corroboration.
Oprah's CHA with the call to Star Jones.

"She did say, 'Star, I felt extremely used by the Bush administration.'

This quote is a big fat mistake, much like Ms. Winfrey herself. The White House did nothing to cast aspersions on Orca. The media described the situation, and the public drew its conclusions. How the hell does the White House "set her up". Apparently, they asked her to go, and to check her schedule. She did, and said no. In my opinion, her choice was a snub to her country, not to the Administration.

Ms. Fatfrey has now, via an extra wide channel in Ms. Jones, smacked the ball into the White House's court. They are going to respond, and it isn't going to be pretty.

Maybe I am just slow today but I don't see what Oprah is upset about.

Here is the quote about what HER office said:
In a prepared statement from her office at Chicago-based Harpo Productions, Winfrey said she had too many other things to do.

Then, she is complaining that she is being characterized as follows:
"She said, 'So imagine my surprise, I wake up and read in the newspaper that I'm being cavalier, I'm too busy.'

I must be missing something.

This reminds me of the bit where Andy Kaufman is railing against the tabloid press screaming,"How dare they write this! This is outrageous! Where do they get this stuff!?!". Then, he stops and in a normal voice says, "Well, they get it from me". Then screaming again, "But this is still outrageous!"

More than likely, some liberal used Oprah to smash Bush. And she's too stupid to get it. This White House does not play these silly games.

Perhaps one day, 'The View' reruns will be banished into syndication on Lifetime TV....if there is a God, oh please make it happen...

What I want to know is - WHY is A&E running The View in the evenings????? Shepard Smith gets on my nerves, and so does Prissy Matthews.

I want my reruns of Law and Order back!

Isn't it possible that both could be right? That the media could have had a role in creating an inaccurate perception? I trust Oprah's integrity and I trust Bush's. I don't trust the media.
