The Druze are very much pro-Israeli. While a minority, they are very well integrated into Israeli society. There are Druze members of the Knesset (the Israeli congress) and the Druze are educated and modern members of society. They are a break-away Moslem group that is monotheistic.

Tom thanks for sharing this with. Your friend predicted what was to come in the last couple of paragraphs of this great letter.
To: Howlin
Thanks for the ping, I missed this great thread/letter.

As the fraudulent "peace process" unfolded I told friends that Israel was committing slow-motion suicide, swapping land won by blood and iron for a series of worthless "promises" from a "head of state" who was actually a bloody little terrorist.
I only hope that it is not too late, and that the people of Israel, and America, realize that there is no honor among thieves, and no truce with terrorists.

Hi Howlin,
Thanks for thinking of me. I did see it the first time around. I thought the most telling part of the letter was this phrase:
"If you look at the last few years you can [say] this about Arafat: Either you cant control your own people, in which case, why are we negotiating with you, or you are controlling your own people in these terrorist attacks, in which case, why are we negotiating with you?"
The writer makes an excellent, and very basic point.

BTW; have you had the pleasure of meeting, "summer," yet? If not, you really should avail yourself the opportunity. Sounds (to me) like a match made in Heaven. You know just the way to win a girl's heart, Mr. Landru. Making fun of her (real, I might add) name always gives a girl the warm fuzzies. (But I'll admit it beats "What's your sign?" by a country mile.) ;)

The druzes like the Jews lived here in the land long before the Arab invasion. They are very loyal to Israel, and are the best desert trackers in the world.
Those guys could track a fly across a marble tabletop and tell you if it was right handed or left. -grin-
To: American in Israel
Oops, I got them mixed up with the bedowin. The druze are a sect of Islam that Islamics have rejected. They do not observe the 5 pillars of Islam, the Mecca prayers etc so other Islamics see them as not Islamics at all. All I know is the Druze are good hosts and the bedowin are good hosts and the Islamics are dangerous. Gotta figure who it is, before you go wandering into camp.

Guess we both caught the "irony" of that statement. Guess if there are no bombs exploding, the "illusion" can be maintained for a while.
I've never seen a better explanation of what I'm coming to know about that region.
Now if we could ejukate the sheeples...

An
improved Uzi? Always trust a FReeper to find the answer to a gun question.
What'll they think of next?
Wasn't there a 9MM Radom on the market back in the 70s that was a Hi-Power klone? I didn't see one on their Handguns link.
To: Squantos
Thanks!
