USO Canteen Freeper Style
War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil. We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.
On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.
William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."
The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.
This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."
We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.
This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.
Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!
"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

Thank you both for a wonderful Easter Sunday in the Canteen. The graphics were beautiful and inspiring. and set the tone for the fellowship and caring throughout the Day.
Okay, so now someone help me out here. We have like dozens and dozens of hard boiled eggs to eat up this week. Any ideas?
This is something different. They are fried hard boiled eggs with an oriental sauce. You shell the eggs, then fry them whole in a wok with lots of oil, slice and serve with a variety of sauces.
And here are some creamed eggs on toast. A really simple thing to make with milk and cornstarch.
Of course, we can always have egg salad sandwiches and devilled eggs. Not to mention a big pot of bean soup using our left over ham bones....

Unless you're the official mascot of a major league sports team, there's only one day a year that you can drop a balloon filled with mayonnaise out a window on your boss's head and not get canned, and that day is today!
So how did April Fools' Day start, anyway? Blame it on the Pope. You see, back in 1562, long before the invention of fake vomit, Pope Gregory introduced the new Gregorian calendar, which shifted the first day of the new year from April 1 to Jan. 1. But as usual, some jokers didn't get the memo and continued to celebrate the New Year in April and, of course, other jokers played tricks on them and called them "April fools."
Sadly, today's new-fangled popes have all but given up the practice of playing wacky pranks on unsuspecting victims, leaving the job to you, the public. So to help you carry on this proud tradition, we here at the Canteen have assembled a list of madcap japes sure to tickle the funny bones of almost everyone. Ponder the significance of the fact that today, April Fools' Day, is also the anniversary of the first meeting of the U.S. House of Representatives (April 1, 1789).
NOTE FROM THE LAWYERS
The Canteen Staff in no way thinks you should actually attempt to play the following pranks on anyone or even attempt to have fun on April 1 or any other date, ever.
5 PRANKS TO PLAY ON APRIL FOOLS' DAY
Go to a tanning salon. Take an extra set of clothes and leave them next to one of the tanning beds. Pour a little pile of ashes on the bed.
Put an official-looking sign over the control pad of your office fax or copy machine that says it is now voice activated. The sign should direct users to say their full name in a loud, crisp voice, followed by the desired command.
Buy a parrot and teach it some really annoying phrase like, "You da man!" or "I shall destroy you!" Then return the bird to the pet store.
Go to a fast-food drive-through and post a big sign that reads: "SPEAKER IS BROKEN. PLEASE SPEAK LOUDLY."
Attach a soda cup to the top of your car with a large magnet inside the bottom of the cup. Drive merrily along as if you left the cup there by mistake. When people point and wave, act like they're just waving at you, smile and wave back.
