She was born in 1900 I knew that would probably get a discussion started. My brother and I argued about it for a month at the time of 2K.

Hit that tiny, tiny "Topics" on the top, far right. Scroll down to "Breaking News". Click it. Go back to the "News/Activism" page. Look under the graphic of the flag that has the words, "United We Stand". You will see "You are not subscribed." Click it. Your breaking news will appear on the right. Yes, it should be simpler to do.

May she rest in peace! She was a wonderful woman--so strong, in the face of many sorrows. My condolences to the British people, and especially to Queen Elizabeth, who is a lot like her mum.

Such a sweet lady. And a brave one.
May God bless *Queen Mum*.

Um no...her eldest daughter Elizabeth II remains the monarch. The Queen Mother lived an extraordinary life...beloved by many. Condolences to those who mourn her. RIP May God have mercy on her soul.

The thought of her brave words when Buckingham Palace was bombed during WWII - that now she could face the people of the East End whose homes had already been bombed - always brought tears to my eyes, and certainly do today. Yes, indeed. She was greatly loved by the English people, because of this, among many other things. And it's very sad for her daughter, the Queen, to lose not only her sister recently, but now her mother.

Thanks Orual - I did it. I am not happy. Where is the button to click "ALL"? What topics in the world am I supposed NOT to be interested in? And now it runs all the way down the page because of the big spacing. Harumph. (LOL I sound like an oldster here, but I'm not. I'm just someone who organizes brilliantly and I hate the complicated nature of all this. And on a holiday no less! :)

If I am not mistaken, the year 1900 is the last year of the 19th century. You're right, just like 2000 was the last year of the 20th century. I forgot about that.

BTW, now that I have completed this action, does it matter that none of the sidebar article hot-links work? I click on them and nothing... LOL I just hope this new software is not related to Micro Soft in any way.

A grand lady who lived a fine, long life.

Another reason to have BREAKING NEWS! I've tried adding it and I can't get it to work. I'm sorry to hear that. Keep trying. Practice makes perfect. In the meantime, I'll e-mail Drudge for you.

I feel terrible that not only did we lose our link to the monarchy's heroic past, the Queen Mum missed out on the Golden Jubilee, which is what she wanted to do.
It is a tragic day here. This is a year already awash in tears for the monarchy.
Regards, Ivan

Thanks for the link. Here it is.........
THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY TO THE QUEEN
The Queen, with the greatest sadness, has asked for the following announcement to be made immediately.
Her beloved mother, Queen Elizabeth, died peacefully in her sleep this afternoon, at Royal Lodge, Windsor.

My links work on Breaking News, so I'm not sure why yours don't. I agree that this new format is unecessarily cluttered, and seems quite disorganized. It does make what seemed simple and intuitive before, a real chore now.
