I woke up this morning and saw this new design, it made me think my world was crubmling apart.... I am going to have to see a psychiatrist and leave my religion behind because obviously my God hates me imposing such atrocity on me. My life is sooooo bad.

I want it back too SarahW. Why do we always think we have to IMPROVE on something that is working. SOUNDS something like the DEMOCRACTS method to me!!! Takes LOTS longer to come up too.

What does politics have to do with software enhancement?

I'm not too keen on the new 'do. Sorry. Keep it simple. I like red, white, and blue as a pallette of colors, but braining me with flags and eagles, the way some other sites do, is overkill.
We're in the middle of a website redeisgn where I work, and it's terrible. We're constantly making clients and even employees guessing where things are, even though the content remains pretty much the same. And isn't "refreshing" as our web administrator tells us, it's annoying! And we do it every year. Auugh!

I can't find the "latest posts" button unless I'm in a thread.
It says I can change sidebars by going to the "topics" page, however, there is NO topics page that I can find.

Come on you guys, we go through this every time we change something. It's new, it's exciting, there's plenty to keep your mind shape and occupied so you don't get into trouble ;o)
I love the new look and it's great to be able to jump from forum to forum, to be able to customize the page the way you want, just play around with it a bit. Go to your preferences, click on the buttons and see what happens.

Could we possibly have MORE flags in the design. Perhaps do the margin all the way around and put the flag logo at the beginning to the title of each tread and before and after each posters name. The current design is way too subtle.

Sometimes, just sometimes, whiners are right. This is one of them.

Go to your preferences and change the number of threads that will be shown on a page. You're probably set at 50 instead of 20. It was an option before but you probably forgot you set it.

See "My Comments" in the left hand column. Actually. it has more features than before. You can get lead in comments of you wish.

It's slow. I hate it. In a week I won't remember what the old format looked like. It's slow.

. Where the heck is all of the breaking news stuff????????
Go to the top of the "latest Post" page, select "TOPICS", scroll down to the middle where it says "HIGHLIGHTS", select "BREAKING NEWS", when that opens go down midway on the LEFT SIDEBAR and select "SUBSCRIBE TO" ..... Do this for as many different ones you want in the side bar.....

some of the customizing advantages are pretty kewl. If we could customize things like font size and color for different parts of the user interface (or at least choose between old layout and new layout), I'd agree with you. The new layout is very hard to read; fonts are too small, headlines don't stand out as they should, and so on. The old layout was perfect.
There are technical aspects of the new site that are superior, so I'm certainly not suggesting throwing away all the hard work that went into it. It's nice to be notified when there are new comments to you, for instance. And the idea of customizable sidebars is good.
But the new layout just isn't very useable. [Maybe I should have used the beta more, but I tried it out twice and the style so much harder to read that I didn't go back. I mistakenly assumed that some font size customization, at least, would be added before the new FR was brought into regular service.]

Once we get used to it we won't want to go back. I love having the replies in self search, all in one place. It saves having to navigate around.

go here and click on "topics" at the top. Find a topic of interest (breaking news is always one). When you are in there, look to the left under the "United we stand" picture. It shows "Subscribe". Voi la. I would recommend Jim to have a subscribe/unsubscribe button directly on the topics page too though.

The *look* of the format is great...it's the navigation that has me confused.

wonder if the moderators are lost too as there are about 10 threads running concerning this topic.

Click on the word "Topics" at the top right hand of the screen. It's right under your screen name at the top.
See where it says: Latest|Search|Topics|Members|Post
