Rule of thumb: People who are satisfied don't waste time on betas, no matter the product. So opinions on betas are usually skewed to the dissatisfied who want change.

Some cool changes, but WAY to busy. Semper_libertas is right on his thread, my eyes wonder all over the page. You may want to consider giving certain items more prominence with larger or different fonts and grouping similar items closer. One sidebar is a benefit...one on each side is a distraction, IMHO.

Remember, most people have 5 - 10 web sites they regularly visit due to time constraints. If a site is difficult to read or too complex to navigate, they will go elsewhere. New readers may not come back, guys.

Same here. I was having to keep those 2 pages going, plus the pager and another one to check self-search" because the pager was only picking up the new posts for the news/activism forum. It was a pain in the butt, but I was managing. Now this! I presently have 8 windows open and am having a terrible time even remembering why.

This design is is only intuitive to the designer. I REALLY find it hard to use and DO NOT understand why it is better than what we had.

A couple of the newspaper sites I visit have a "Printer Friendly Format" that essentially shuts off all banners, waving .gif's and sidebars and allows a plain, old vanilla format for stories you want to print. That's what's needed here for our news page. It needs to be in "User settings" so on subsequent visits it loads up fast and efficiently.

Wow ST...you are REALLY popular! I only had 4,564! And I was also trying to see the loading time as a plus. I could take a shower, get groceries, cook supper, watch the news....any number of things between pages.
