We've got a tremendous opportunity to get rid of Bob Torricelli this year
The Department of Justice had a tremendous opportunity to get rid of Bob Torricelli, but decided he was (like all democrats), above the law.
Another feather in Ashcroft's cap.

The Torch will win, although I would LOVE to see ANYONE elminate the SOB. Remember, Jerseyites have a high tolerance for corruption and have not ELECTED a Republican Senator since the liberal Clifford Case. Jersey is the place where people identify as "moderates" yet vote "liberal."

Donnie DiFrancesco and the moderates burned too many bridges to the conservatives with their performance in the gubernatorial campaign. Not content to merely shut up and stay home, Donnie and his boys actively worked behind (barely) the scenes to defeat Schundler.
They preserved the corrupt bipartisan machine that is NJ politics.
It really doesn't matter anymore whether the political insider on the take carries a D or an R after his name.
Like the Sopranos, they're all family now.
I'll whistle past the graveyard and vote Libertarian.

Well, this is a start ---- getting them all in one place. We have your view, SoS. Anyone else want to expand?
Does The Torch have the primary to himself?

Diane Allen ... she's far too liberal for the average GOP primary voter
I won't vote for Diane Allen either in the primary, or the general if (heaven forbid) she should get that far. She's a back-stabbing RINO. Didn't she try to steal the spotlight from Schundler when he had Carl Rove up here during the campaign by hosting a competing event on the same night?
I'll vote for whoever Bret Schundler endorses, assuming he makes choice. (I hope he'll at least make a private endorsement here on FR...)

4) Doug Forrester.
I've seen this guy's direct mail. I've been to his web site. I'd like to get excited about him, but I can't figure out what the heck he stands for, if anything. His message seems to be: "Elect me. I'm not as corrupt as Torricelli." That's great, but I won't vote for a guy if I don't know where he stands on 1.) abortion, 2.) Taxes, 3.) The 2nd Amendment, 4.) Special rights for homosexuals. I've seen no trace of his opinions on these matters anywhere, except what you've written above.
So far, I have absolutely no one to get excited about here. It's looking like I'm going to sit back and watch this unfold and register a vote for the most conservative candidate when the primary comes around. Then, when a RINO gets the nod, I'll vote 3rd party in November. I will NEVER vote for another RINO again.

NEW JERSEY RIGHT TO LIFE PAC ENDORSES STATE SENATOR JOHN
MATHEUSSEN FOR U.S.
SENATE
April 11, 2002
New Jersey Right to Life PAC, the states largest pro-life political action committee is pleased to announce the endorsement of State Senator John Matheussen for U. S. Senate. Marie Tasy, Director of Public & Legislative Affairs for NJRTL PAC, said that Senator Matheussen is the only pro-life candidate seeking the Republican nomination to oppose Bob Torricelli in November.
On the only issue that matters to pro-life Republicans, Senator Matheussen offers voters a clear choice. Unlike the other candidates who are trying to confuse pro-life voters in order to win a statewide primary, Senator Matheussens positions on matters concerning human life are well known.
A Senator must be a leader and the citizens of New Jersey deserve to have an honest representative in Washington, D.C. like Senator Matheussen who will work with President Bush to protect the most vulnerable members of our society, said Tasy.
Senator Matheussens legislative record demonstrates his long-standing and comprehensive commitment to defend and promote the sanctity of human life. As State Senator, Senator Matheussen sponsored and voted for many popular laws to protect the health and lives of women and children, including the NJ Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act, the NJ Parental Notification Law, the NJ Safe Haven Infant Protection Act, the Parental Notification Constitutional Amendment, Megans Law, and the 48 hour Maternity Stay Law which promotes good health care and parenting for new mothers and their babies immediately following childbirth.
Senator Matheussen is the only candidate committed to working with President Bush to help restore a culture of Life to our society, ending the heinous practice of partial birth infanticide, and enacting a complete ban on human cloning, said Tasy.
Ms. Tasy said, As the only pro-life candidate for U. S. Senate, Senator Matheussen will be the recipient of a strong base of NJ voters in the primary and general election. NJRTL PAC will utilize its various resources which include phone banks and mailings to identified pro-life families throughout the state to inform voters about Senator Matheussens pro-life position.
Paid for by New Jersey Right to Life PAC, 49 Alden Street, Cranford, NJ 07016, Faith Willis, Treasurer. Not authorized by any candidate or candidates committee

Truth be told, I have never heard of any of these candidates other than Gregg. I have received exactly two pieces of campaign mail to date. Not that I am complaining. There seems to be no energy for a campaign or anything else here in NJ.....we are still recovering our equilibrium from 9/11.........
For the first time ever, in over 40 years of voting, I will miss a primary and then vote for the Republican in the election.
