ANNOUNCING: THE PATRIOTS RALLY FOR AMERICA - April 20 in Washington, D.C. (Op. Infinite FReep)

The DC Chapter of Free Republic, Rally4America.org and our co-sponsors, NorthernVirginiaGOP.com and RepublicanAction.com, are pleased to announce The Patriots Rally for America (the "Rally") to be held in Washington, D.C. on April 20, 2002 at the Washington Monument.

The Rally will be held on the Northwest Quadrant of the Washington Monument grounds near the intersection of 17th Street, N.W. and Constitution Avenue, N.W.

This Rally will be a family-friendly event to show support for America and for the men and women of our Armed Forces.

Nationally-known conservative leaders and friends of Free Republic are being invited to speak at the Rally. Patriotic music from Dave Dilegge's CD collection will be played over the loudspeakers throughout the day.

We have set a tentative schedule for the Rally to begin at 11:00 a.m. and end around 3:00 p.m. The Rally will be held come rain or shine.

We are asking those who attend the Rally to bring American flags, large and small, and signs with messages supporting America and our troops. Please inform your families, friends and co-workers and urge them to attend The Patriots Rally for America on April 20.

This will be a great opportunity to peacefully counter the anti-war rally and march being held the same day in other areas of D.C. by the usual collection of America-hating communist/leftist/anarchist groups.

The survival of America is at stake in the war on terrorism. We cannot, and will not, allow the America-hating left to take to the streets unanswered, as happened during Vietnam.

The purpose of The Patriots Rally for America is to show support for the United States of America and to support our troops out there fighting for our freedom, putting their own lives on hold and at great risk, and fighting an enemy that doesn't take prisoners. We must win the war on terrorism.

Further announcements will be forthcoming. Please mark your calendar for April 20 and stay tuned.

The DC Chapter's Rules for Protesting will be in effect on April 20: No violence, no racism, no profanity, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect. Just a reminder: Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on National Park Service property.

April 19 and 20 are sort of no-nos when planning any conservative function -- the 19th is associated with the bombing in Oklahoma City (and a number of other militia-related thingys) and the 20th is Adolph Hitler's Birthday.
