The Academy requested that he not die on Oscar night and steal headlines from the winners... so he got better.

Yes, he was in 'Cider House Rules'. The only good thing from that movie can be summed up in two words: Charlize Theron.

Sure. If you're a guy I can see how you might like that kind of thing.

Pryor and Wilder were soooo funny. The movie itself...what was so good about it besides the guys mentioned?

The best part about Broadbent's win is that the movie has only $3.3 million in US box office and has been shown in only 141 theaters (only 4 until Broadbent, Winslett and Dench were nominated). ABC's got enough ratings problems than to have Hollywood handing out awards to movies that have been seen by less than 350,000 people in the entire US. Reruns on PAX get many times bigger audiences than 350,000. *g*

Why give an award to the lead in a movie with $800 million in world-wide box office when you can give it to the most obscure guy? *g*

They made the movie funny! It's one of those movies I could watch over and over again and laugh just as much as the first time I watched.

This is a chronically narcisistic production. These people seem to have forgotten that the world is dealing with real life terror; instead, their biggest problem is getting a good haircut and bath. And they applaud people who give 50 cents to the homeless and "do what I know is the right thing." Please, get out and save some babies - of the human persuasion, then I might think of calling you "humanitarians."

Australian actor Russell Crowe, nominated for best actor for his his work in "A Beautiful Mind," and his girlfriend Danielle Spencer arrive at the 74th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Los Angeles. (AP Photo/Doug Mills)

I thought this was a nice dress until I looked closer and saw the embroidered flower, too bad. Danielle is beautiful though, is that his first girlfriend from years ago?
