McDaniel also said that her award was a "credit to her race". Why should Berry pretend that she wasn't happy to the first black Best Actress? Even if she hadn't mentioned it, it's not like the press would ignore it.

I agree with your comments about x42. I used to like Harrison Ford a lot until I heard his comments about making right wing people the bad guys in 'A Sum of All Fears', instead of terrorists. Really, some liberals seem to fear the right more than they fear Osama bin Laden. /rant

It should have been Russell Crowe or Sean Penn.

As much as I dislike Sean Penn's politics I have to agree with you. I say if not Crowe, than Penn should have won. With Denzel being perhaps third or fourth most deserving, lol..

I remember reading a story that went something like that

She was asked to skip the Premiere of GWTW at the Lowes theater in Atlanta.
She did.

It was an epic. One of the best films I've ever seen. I haven't yet met in person anyone who didn't think it was very good.

Well, let me introduce you to one.

Walk, talk, fight. Walk, talk, fight. I was glancing at my watch the entire last hour. "Let's see . . . I've heard it's 3 hours long, I think. So how much longer am I gonna be here?"

Well I'll offer congratulations, history WAS made tonight.

But I hope after the recognition and enjoyment of the moment, that there will be a lessening of all the accusations about race. Honestly, are there very many people still left who thought that those Black actors and actresses DIDN'T have a legitimate shot at winning? Even in Hollywood, I think that that barrier has mostly been crossed over and dismantled.

Crowe lost because he's a jerk. I'm glad Hollywood decided for once that you don't reward losers...

is about as credible as when Cary Grant played a "bum".

If you mean "Father Goose", I love that movie and I thought
he did a great job as a liquored up recluse from society that
falls in love with Leslie Caron.

I agree with you though about not seeing Denzel Washington
as an innercity "street" detective.

God bless Halle Berry. Does it matter.... She was great in "The Monster Ball" which undoubtedly no one on Free Republic saw... so save your BS when you are educated.. She deserved the Oscar.

In my opinion Russell Crowe deserved the Oscar. But who am I?

Cut the crap on this board. Otherwise it's just racism.

Her mother looks like Dame Lady Dench...

Ara...

Like the color of their skin, the shape of their bones, the depth of tissues? Genetics account for some differences between races, you know.
