Doesn't it get heavy carrying that chip on your shoulder?

i don't think he's saying that... all he is saying is the Russell was robbed in the name of diversity... so, you beg the question... if it didn't go to Denzel or Smith, then it would have gone to Russell who should have won it in the first place... except for the diversity issue... i'm not saying i agree--i just think this is what he was saying... (but i do think Russell should have won--however, i don't think Denzel won because of diversity... i think he won because "he was due" is the eyes of many...)

We looked in here, and liked (most) of the stuff here. Do you know if Texaggie is ever coming back?? Or is this just an extended time out?

"Sob, sob...this thread is for JimRob, Hank Reardon, Lazmataz, Doctor Raol, HLL, Howlin, Sabertooth, and all the other Freepers who went before me, who now stand beside me. 2000 birds, that's a good night. Wait, wait, there is 4 years of history here this moment...I'd like to thank my keyboard, JimRob's lawyer, and..."

Get real- Halle looks Black and identifies that way. I was offended by your remarks because you seemed to be implying that the product of two Black parents couldn't be beautiful in your eyes.
I'm proud of Halle because she is a good actress to start with and YES, I am proud of her as a Black actress because she has fought against not being considered "black enough" by some casters in Hollywood and taken on some roles that some felt should have gone to more "Black" looking actresses.
First you say Halle looks black, and then you say she took black roles that should have gone to more "black looking" actresses.
Make up your mind.

Well I have two White parents and she has one, but I consider her no less White than I am.Halle looks Black.
Halle thinks of herself as Black.
Halle is Black.
Halle made history tonight- that wouldn't have been so if she were White.

I agree. Men look so silly in toupees. Bald men can be sexy.

Hollyweird sympathizes with a mentally ill woman who drowned her five little children, but they will forever hold a grudge against a mentally ill man who had moments of anti-Semitic rants without hurting anyone.

Yawn. I know that it's early here on the West Coast, but this gal has gotta get up real early tomorrow morning. Just keep posting and I'll catch up on things come Monday, PST.
Hillary's Lovely Legs: Great thread! Let's do lunch sometime soon. We all must do this again next year. Uhh, this was a mock fest, right? ;)

And if I recall .. at the time Hattie McDaniels rec'd this award she wasn't allowed to attend the ceremonies because she was black .. I could be wrong .. but I think that is what I read ..Yes you're wrong.
She cried too, but showed more class that Halle.

Anybody watching the 'E' channel? I love how the reporters are given numbers they have to answer to. How demeaning.

Opie has red hair (had) and freckles! I'm so PROUD he won!!!!! It's a personal triumph for of us who had to suffer through the Farkle Family years. sheeeeeshThere's no comparison between the Black experience and the Farkle Family but I like Ron Howard and am glad he won too.

LOL, good post. Halle Berry made just as much of a hysterical fool of herself this year as Julie Roberts did last year. At least Halle can act, which is more than I can say for Julia.

And they identified Nash so much with Crowe, that he bears the brunt of reaction.
That's almost a tribute to his acting ability...
