Crap, crap, crap, crap!!! What a load of crap this is!!!! What the hell ever happened to judging by the content of character and not color of skin (I know, rhetorical questions). I am so sick and tired of seeing this racial whining come to fruition like this.
For Denzel, I don't mind as much, because I think the man should have won previously for his work; he is absolutely one of the best actors in Hollywood today. But not for this film.
And Halle Berry?!?!? Puhleeeaze! Showing one's ta-ta's should not merit an Oscar.
And worst of all - Spike Lee will probably still not shut up!

The 'two birds' was a little vulgar to me. Well I'm surprised that's all he said and for that I give him much credit. He's a fine actor and was recognized for that alone.
To: LarryLied
"...I was sitting her thinking about how a thread on the Oscars got side tracked into talk of Soviet espionage and then it dawned on me....duh....we're talking Hollywood here." DUH indeed! ROTFL!

I am glad Sean Penn didn't win. Then I would have needed those darts!

Race doesn't matter when the award is SUPPOSED to be given for talent....not the color of your skin. Oh let them have their say .. the fact is there have not been many other black actors to win the Oscars .. they are proud of there achivements being an actor and black .. there is nothing wrong with that

Go Denzel Go! Always been one of my favorite actors. It's about damn time he finally won. I like Denzel too. It's unfortunate that he won for this role. Denzel is erudite and has a high polish ... believing he is a "street black" is about as credible as when Cary Grant played a "bum".
To: rintense
He won Best Supporting for 'Glory' - a great movie BTW.

Hollywood and the Oscars have always been influenced by agendas. So maybe HB and DZ were part of this years agenda. Or maybe each deserved their award. Its all subjective.

Thanks for the Ashcroft explanation.

Mixed ethnicity people are usually the most beautiful! (I happen to know, because I'm mixed race) ;-)Hey, same here, I am also of mixed race. My father is hispanic and my mom was an INDIANA HOOSIER! go INDIANA/Final Four

Does seeing more than three black folk in one place make you fear for your life???
Poor baby! It makes Jesse Jackson fear for his.
The sight of more than 3 thugs makes me cautious, and as long as the preponderance of blacks chose to at least dress and move lke 'gangsters' I will stay prepared.

She's the first black woman (btw, her mother raised her to think of herself as a "black" woman) to ever win best actress; she acknowledged that tonight. That's not playing the race card. It's acknowledging the historical significance of the moment. Congrats, Halle!
Oh, and you too Denzel!!!
Yesssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oops! Thank you for correcting my error....... ;^)
