Two facts that need mentioning--
1) Poverty doesn't cause terrorism. Islamic INFIDELAPHOBIA is the cause of terrorism
2) The solution to global poverty IS NOT scapegoating successful nations and extracting their money. The solution to global poverty IS global capitalism.

The barbarians demand tribute anyone who has read Gibbon knows paying them means the fall of the empire.

The successful prescription for armed violence from the mobs and masses has always been the unsentimental and unabashed application of deadly force.

Funny thing is that William B. Buckley used a similiar argument in a conservative defense of the welfare state, to keep the lower classes from going red.

Leaders of poor nations warned their rich counterparts that if they want a world free of terrorism, they will need to pay for it.Citizens of the United States warn 3rd World despots that if they attempt to extort money from this rich nation, their nations will be turned into big, glowing gopher holes!

French President Jacques Chirac said poor nations seemed to be getting that message.
Which poor nations would they be, Jacko?

"Leaders of poor nations warned their rich counterparts that if they want a world free of terrorism, they will need to pay for it." Is it just me or isn't this more commonly referred to as extortion?

Leaders of poor nations warned their rich counterparts that if they want a world free of terrorism, they will need to pay for it. Time to dust off an oldie but goodie...
MILLIONS FOR DEFENSE.
NOT ONE CENT FOR TRIBUTE!
For the informationally challenged... that's history.

Ol' Roddy says it better than I possibly could:
DANEGELD(A.D. 980-1016)Rudyard Kipling
|
IT IS always a temptation to an armed and agile nation, To call upon a neighbour and to say: "We invaded you last nightwe are quite prepared to fight, Unless you pay us cash to go away." And that is called asking for Dane-geld, And the people who ask it explain That you've only to pay 'em the Dane-geld And then you'll get rid of the Dane! It is always a temptation to a rich and lazy nation, To puff and look important and to say: "Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you. We will therefore pay you cash to go away." And that is called paying the Dane-geld; But we've proved it again and again, That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld You never get rid of the Dane. It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation, For fear they should succumb and go astray, So when you are requested to pay up or be molested, You will find it better policy to say: "We never pay any one Dane-geld, No matter how trifling the cost, For the end of that game is oppression and shame, And the nation that plays it is lost!"

If unemployment is high enough that revolution is actually a danger then buy off the mobs but once unemployment goes low enough stop buying them off. We should not be buying off 3rd countries under any circumstances.

What a ridiculous shakedown. First, not all poor countries are producing terrorists. The terrorists are coming from countries harboring radical Islamic groups. Second, most of the 9/11 bombers were not at all poor.

Dumping money into countries with no infrastructure to distribute aid, corrupt government, no education, and no freedom is like flushing our money down the toilet. Good for W. for demanding liberty as a precondition.

if they want a world free of terrorism, they will need to pay for it. This statement is true, in a way. Ships, planes, bombs, bullets and most of all the proper training of Soldiers cost money. Done right, they cost lots of money. But that is money very well spent if they are properly used to terminate terrorists.

Where to begin. For example, just the tone of extortion or Castro's comments that it isn't fair to link the aid to battling corruption. I'll just leave it at "F you Kofi et al. Go back to your limos and ignore the slavery trade in the Sudan"

Re your # 6
Chirac is a slithering weasel....heading a pathetic nation of shopkeepers who will do anything for money.
They killed off their nobility and their brains in the revolution and since then have deteriorated into a quarrelsome cesspool of socialism, pathetically jealous of the Amercian standard of living.
Let them eat cake!!!

Leaders of poor nations warned their rich counterparts that if they want a world free of terrorism, they will need to pay for it. Leaders of rich nations including President Bush said Friday they need to see results if they are to give more money. Let's see, how much would it cost to be totally free of terrorism. (calculating) (PING) Oh, that's not much. Hey we can neutron bomb all the poor countries for less than one years worth of foreign aid and they will NEVER come back trying to blackmail us and we get to keep the resources!
I think we should give them what they want. After giving them two weeks to make their peace with God or decide that maybe they were wrong in the first place, of course. (I'm not totally anti-foreigner after all)
God Save America (Please)
