Sorry, I can't listen to Rush during the day (I work for a living), but does anyone know if he has discussed this on his radio show? Just wanted to hear his opinion of the "Radio Factor".
To: Gillmeister
So if he doesn't give free publicity to incoming competition, he's 'nervous'?
To: Gillmeister
Rush stated earlier that "Mr. O'Reilly is more than welcome" and to "come on in, the water's fine." If Rush remains on his game, any competition will need to be moved to succeed. If the competition is better than Rush, then it's up to Rush to do better. That's the free market way of doing things, and Rush seems to like the free market.

I doubt that the Rush Meister is worried about O'Reilly. IMHO O'Reilly won't make a dent in of the conservative radio personalities.

O'Reilly was advertising his book on the Rush show today.
Maybe O'Reilly was worried no one would hear the ad if he ran on his show LOL.

Rush is the Babe Ruth of conservative broadcasters. He built the house -- AM talk radio -- which has become the life-blood of conservatives.
AM Conservative Talk is the House that Rush Built. After many pretenders tried, Rush was the one who was able to articulate mainstream (National Review) conservatism responsibly for the masses. We owe him a lot. Since his cochlear implant, he has come back with new enthusiasm and energy.
O'Rielly is OK, but he does not deserve our loyalty over the Sultan of Conservative Swat (and smack). Long live the King!

I bet El Rushbo is really "ah shakin' in his boots.."
To: white_wolf
I agree. Rush has contributed a great deal to the cause of conservatism. He will always have my support and gratitude.

Bill O'Reilly should be happy with he success he has because the step into radio may be his undoing. I could never imagine O'Reilly coming up with anything close to "In a Yugo" or some of the other works that are so funny.
To: Gillmeister
O'Reilly is a wind bag.
To: Eric
You are correct. Rush is very much an all inclusive kind of guy and he did welcome Bill into the radio fold. In Fact, Bill was quite differential and said if Rush didn't want him in radio he wouldn't go. This was during the height of Rush's hearing problems.
To: white_wolf
You are right white wolf, I've been finding myself laughing at Rush's show lately which is something i hadn't done in a long time. I've also been nodding in agreement when he's been giving W. heck about CFR and cowtowing to the democrats. I think his implant has gotten him excited about his work again. As of now I have no intention of switching my dial for anyone. Certainly not O'Reilly.

BTW Rush doesn't get nervous he just handles things. heh heh
To: Gillmeister
I don't have as much time as I used to for Rush listening either. I still like to know what he thinks about certain larger news stories, so I tune in when I feel the need.
I do, however, have a fairly solid craving for the Hannity show lately. There is a certain energy there.
I like O'Reilly on "the Factor", but found his books (like Rush's) were all the stuff you had heard by being a loyal listener to begin with. Without hearing O'Reilly on the radio, I supsect that I have already heard it on TV, six months ago.

O'Reilly just doesn't have the all-around talents that Rush has. Folks get upset when Mahatma Rushie occasionally talks about golf and football and other off-politics issues. But that's partly why he has a vast, varied audience other than just the political junkies in the choir like us.
In fact, I'll bet millions of listeners will stay glued to him just to be around when he starts playing "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iraq" again. I know I will! Number one song on my all-time Hit Parade, hah!

O'Reilly has too hard an edge to him.
Rush likes a good laugh.
So do I.
El Rushbo's da man!
To: scouse
IMHO O'Reilly won't make a dent in of the conservative radio personalities.I suppose it depends if O'Reilly starts talking about his golf outings.
To: ST.LOUIE1
Will O'Reilly have a "no guest" show like Rush, or will he rely on others? Rushs show was pretty bad today. He spent the majority of his time talking about dodge ball. If he keeps doing this type of nonsense, I will not hesitate to turn the dial.I've listened daily since '92. He's softened up quite a bit. Hannity reminds me of the "old" Rush.
