A minor (I hope) point regarding Saint Patrick's death at Saul, Downpatrick, Ireland.
Saul, and Downpatrick are in Northern Ireland, an entirely different country.
Ireland, to the south, is loyal to Dublin. Downpatrick in Northern Ireland, as part of the United Kingdom, is loyal to London.
Perhaps this was written over eighty years ago, but before the country of Ireland was created, the entire island was part of the British Empire.
A minor point, and I hope the only inaccuracy.
On a happier note, the small Catholic church of Saul still stands, much modernised although tiny. As is Downpatrick, and the cemetary adjacent to Downpatrick church supposedly has the final tomb of Saint Patrick. In spite of all the "troubles", Saul and Downpatrick are in the predominantly Protestant county. I was there recently.
Also happily, there appears to be no friction with Saul still a functioning church in Protestant Northern Ireland. Somewhat of it's own miracle.

My father departed this world about 26 years ago. He was born on this day -- John Patrick Cogan. I give thanks everyday that his father came to this great country from Ireland. I still miss you, pop.

What do you mean? The only thing I remember is that when St.Patrick landed in Ireland and placed his crucifix in the sand,the snakes came out.

That was St.Patrick.I just said it differently than you.Driving the snakes out was just a small bit of what he did.
