I like calling Daschle unpatriotic as being a patriot today is popular. The author makes a good point - Daschle is really more wrong that unpatriotic. Still, it's always enjoyable to poke fun at Daschle. I'm just sad it's illegal to say what I really think.

In my opinion he is guilty of conspiracy to commit espionage, since he permitted our secrets to be sold to China, and not persuing clinton in the senate trial, for which there is most likely evidence of that. For that matter so are many other senators.

Based on the above definitions, a more accurate description of Daschle is an obstructionist. Therefore, I cannot call him a senator; it is an insult to those who are.

I think calling dems unpatriot is fun because of two things. It forces them to think about the fact that even a reasonable liberal must conclude that Al-Qeada is a bigger threat than John Ashcroft. And it smacks them upside the head with their own tactics. We're all familiar with the way they love to call everybody racist.

I don't think Daschle really is unpatriotic. He's just so narrowly focused on winning that he can't really assess the foundations and logical conclusions of some of the things he's saying. And forcing him to defend himself could instill some awareness.
