The Goliath Syndrome
2 Chronicles 7 14
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land..."
We are witnesses to this country's greatest evil: a Justice system that has grown into a Goliath king wearing a crown of Injustice. Just as Goliath was, our Injustice system is now proud, arrogant and disdainful of the common Joe Citizen as lacking in legal powers. It occurs to me that this is very likely how the rest of the world sees us, America, the great Goliath: powerful, arrogant, corrupt, ungodly, and a big crash. "Baywatch" implants and "Sex & the City" reruns broadcast abroad do tell the world all about America.

We the [Common Joe Citizen] People seem powerless as our legal Goliath clubbing us all over the country. Goliath looks down and laughs, and crushes us and pushes us out of the way. Goliath the legal system adorns himself with noble titles of Esquires, Honorable, Justices, Judges, exquisite and resounding titles of truth and honors long lost and gone. The original meaning of "Honor" was actually of a privilege of one above another, of superiority and title. Nobility is back, and the Warlords reign untouchable.

Just as the Isrealites were paralyzed by fear of the giant, so are we of our own Goliath, our Injustice system. We are afraid of being labeled "extremists" or "fundamentalists" or "right wing wackos." And so we sit and take all the bad treatment, verbal abuse, and legal persecution, somehow hoping that if we just look the other way for a while, the bad will go away. In my humble opinion, we are not doing God, our country and ourselves any service that way. One of the greatest stories of victory in the Bible occurs because little David took offense to the vile and hateful diatribes of one who took joy in deriding God, truth, and all who swore allegiance to Him.

According to 2 Chronicles 16:9
"For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war."
Unless and until more begin to take offense at the corruption, prevailing untruth, arrogance and noble titles, aimed at deriding, belittling and destroying us and truth, we will continue to sit idly, wringing our hands vainly; praying for angels to come and deliver us from the king of lies, and we will continue to suffer and to pay for what we didn't do and we didn't ask for, and endless legal wallpaper.

The very wine of the New Covenant is being watered down beyond recognition by our own unwillingness to take offense at the corruption and the arrogance of our modern Goliath, our Injustice system. Repentance, discipline, and redress are fearful words for the majority. That is because there are no Davids standing up before the enemies and friends of Truth and Justice declaring,"You cannot do that which you do best! To rob us of the Constitution by the practice of your judicial activism, which equals to the slow erasing of the Constitution and the Law itself."

Yes, the Muslim countries see us as morally corrupt because they are receiving our exported pornography, etc. They perceive that all American women are loose.

The Pharisees loved the Scriptures, memorized it and abided by the letter of the law. They had nothing to do with the outcasts and sinners of that day. Amazingly, Jesus came for those outcasts and blatant sinners. He loved them and spent time with them. Then he even died for them and asked God to forgive them. Who are the outcasts and sinners of the religious folks today? Feminists? Homosexuals? Liberals? Does Jesus love them? Are we, as conservative Christians raising our fists at them or are we loving them and being kind to them?

As Moses, when he interceded on behalf of the rebellious Israelites, I believe that we should be flat on our faces interceding on behalf of our communities and country.

Are we more like the Pharisees or are we like Jesus? Hard question.

History indicates that over a course of time people will evetually rule themselves, and granted, that has taken various civilizations hundereds of years to achieve. God's word tells us to "Love our neighbors as we love our selves" and to give to those who are less fortunate and in need. The segminet of society that does not hold or believe in God's instruction are the essential cause of a less than peacefull existance. In todays America, unfortunately, that is predominately everyone. That is not to say we are a God-less society or that anyone purposefully causes strife in anothers life, though some do. As a nation we like material wealth and the luxuries that accompany it and for most, life is easy in the US. When we see that our neighbor has something material that makes his life easier than our own, human nature compells us to seek the same. Put simply, it's personal greed that allows our GOLIATH to grow. As long as the present standard of living remians in the US, it is reasonable to conclude that we will continue to observe and complain about the injustices of our GOLIATH, but we will not act. GOLIATH is counting on it, at least until that time comes when we have no means to act.
