I never said that TennCare wasn't hurting the state. I work in the healthcare field and TennCare is not only hurting the state but its killing us(hospitals).

Whatever you all may think of Thompson's politics, let me say this: If I take the time to write his office, they ALWAYS respond with a letter SPECIFICALLY addressing my issue or concern. I have never received that attention from another politician.

For is extremely liberal. He geets a lot of fac time and comes across much nicer thatn Dashole. he was on IMUS this morning. At the end of the conversation, IMUS said he could come back when he gets to be Senator. Wonder, if IMUS knew this morning that this story was going to break.

Ford was all over the right wing conspirators during the impeachment.

I heard Robert Novack say one time on one of his TV appearances, that one day For would amove up big time in the political arena. Also Fred Barnes has nothing but praises for Ford. These conservative TV pundits can't seem to see through the syrup that the likes of FOrd and Dashole spew from.

I am truly saddened by Sen. Thompson's loss of his daughter. In my opinion, I have never seen the fire in Thompson, except when he sevred on the Nixon watergate hearings to impeach. He never got that fired up about the clinton impeachment. He needs to go. I would love to see Ed Bryant get the senate seat. He is truly conservative and a nice guy. He needs to get a lot tougher though. I think the Monica lawyers chose him to question Monica, because he was the most gentle of all of the impeachment managers.

Yes. In typical Bredesen weasel words, he said something to the effect that "An income tax now is not the answer." That of course means that if he wins, he will get in office, blame everything on past Governors, and institute an income tax later.

You have to remember what a snake Bredesen is. He jacked up everyone's property valuations then dropped the property tax rate so that he now crows that he cut property taxes. The reality is, Nashvillians had their taxes raised so high that it forced many people to sell and move.

His daughter was 38 and is survived by a husband and two sons. I believe it was a sudden death due to a heart attack. My heart just breaks for him and his family.

Stuck with a hypothetical RAT senator only until a special election would be held in 2004, with GWB running for re-election at the top of the ticket. And we would know where we stood with the rest of the balance of the Senate to determine if Thompson could safely withdraw.

This decision is terrible and selfish for the GOP nationwide.

Shucks, I do flub up once and a while. Yes, I'd support ED for a Senate run, much more so that Lamar. Ed is the more conservative.

I doubt the libs out here in hollywood wouldn't accept him back. It's too bad, I think he is a pretty good character actor.

Hi, I know a "conservative Republican" in Houston who feels the same way about Ken Bentsen as your TN friend does about Bob Clement. She will support Bentsen if he is the Democrat senatorial nominee, a strong possibility. Even though I have told her about Bentsen's liberalism, she says he is "just no nice." And she is in Tom DeLay's district and a big DeLay booster. She just doesn't understand Democrats, I guess.

Property tax...ugh....tell me about. My home property tax would pay a years tuition at a B level private school and my commercial property taxes are around 20% of my net operating income....all for lovely public schools that no one who can afford to besides crusaders send their kids to. Ah, the beauty of Southern Living and urban public schools.

BTW, that's not a racist comment....just a fact of life.

Don't fool yourself Hack....in urban politcs...race matters...so does religion in some areas. If little Ford weren't passably black he would be who he is.

JD, do you know that many voters cannot understand the phenomenon that you just described? All over the country "compassionate" and "caring" politicians boast that they cut property taxes, while their bureaucratic staffs every three years raise valuations, often far beyond what the property could bring if sold. The people are just too stupid to understand that they have been "had," and they keep voting for these liberal "caregivers." I dont' think they can be educated, do you?

Sure, he sounds reasonable but then so does Dasshole. Ford is just another Lying, Stinking DemocRAT, just a bit more subtle than most.

From what I have seen of him on Fox, he always seemed to be yelling over his counterpart.
