Committee Republicans expressed incredulity at the news that the US Fish and Wildlife Department biologist and others in his agency subsequently received merit bonuses and that the Forest Service officials got only ''verbal counseling'' - essentially a stern talking-to.

''The fact that these malfeasant bureaucrats got ... a pat on the back after engaging in totally unethical conduct is, in my estimation, a singular outrage,'' said Scott McInnis, a Colorado Republican. ''At the end of the day, it says a great deal about the cultural mindset of the two agencies.''

But it is a false faith and a self-serving religion. Since the redeemed future that justifies their existence and rationalizes their hypocrisy can never be realized, what really motivates progressives is a modern idolatry: their limitless passion for the continuance of Them. How else do you suppose one is tapped as a director of an "esteemed" government sevice"? Certainly not because of uncompromising ethics or principles. That would only get you a seat on one of the aircraft involved in 911 if certain liberals were doing the choosing. If any Canadian lynx, officially listed as a threatened species, were found in such an area, that locale could come under tough federal rules regulating the habitat of endangered and threatened species

The obvious lesson to be learned here is that if you should discover an endangered species on your land then your obligation to your children is to kill it and destroy any evidence that it ever existed. (of course do so without getting caught)

All the lynx in the world are not worth giving up our land.
