Global warming does not exsist! The climate change is due to the fact that the Earth has broken from its orbit and is hurtling towards the Sun.

This has the requisite panic value, but you need an issue that can be "addressed" (i.e. perpetuated and expanded) by Sierra Club direct-mail fundraising, "kick-back" lawsuits against environmental agencies, and federal land grabs (Western states only please).

It is unclear how the problem you suggest would be not solved by these means. Please try again.

"U.S. National Assessment of the Potential Consequences of Climate Variability and Change" (USNA), a document that breaks the cardinal rule of science..........
------------------
The power of the USNA's bad science can be seen in recent drafts of the energy bill of Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, South Dakota Democrat........
------------------
The USNA's own scientists verified that the temperature models didn't work over the United States. And yet the report went forward, now serving as the basis for the most sweeping energy legislation ever introduced in this nation's history.
========================

Guys, Another example of the "science" that caused me to be verbally attacked on THIS post yesterday. And, as usual the "legitimate" scientists are deafening in their silence. Peace and love, George.

Outstanding article. Very well written.

Mr. Michaels omitted addressing a key factor in greenmail: the Precautionary Principle (itself easily refuted by its own test). He should have dealt with it here or he leaves a crack in the doorway.

The Precautionary Principle operates on the requirement to prove a negative in every case: one must prove that a planned action will have no negative effects. This leaves the bureaucrrat one of two options:

  1. Produce glossy lies to shove the project through (which bureaucrats willingly do for the corrupt projects of the politically annointed who have paid the freight).
  2. Stonewall the projects of the political opposition until they have blown their wealth into oblivion and sold out to the annointed for a pittance.
In either case, the necessary "science" is easily supplied by subjective scientists starving for grants flouted before judges without a technical clue (if necessary). Such "science" is usually supplied by the "charitable" foundations of those self-same politically annointed, or the complicit bureaucracies of higher orders of government representing the same interests.

The system stinks. It fails its purpose. It has to stop.

There is an alternative.

And, as usual the "legitimate" scientists are deafening in their silence.

Baseless ad hominem. Anyone who has frequented the global warming threads knows that for years I have been a mainstay in promoting the idea that the observed changes in the global temperature are caused by changes in the sun.

Besides, how do you know that these models are wrong? It's because they were debunked by scientists. Errors in science are to be expected. They are part of the process; they get corrected by later work. The problem here is the politicians. If scientists discover that certain conclusions are in error (as is the case here), but politicians latch onto the erroneous conclusions and base legislation upon them (as is the case here), how are the scientists to blame?

But I think you already know that. You just have an axe to grind.

My model says it is plate tetonics, magma emissions in the ocean floor, sulfur emissions from volcanoes and decaying forests, fluxuations of the earth's magnetic flow.

Or it could be earthworms...

John thanks for posting this.

Miss Marple, it looks like our stealth president struck a lethal blow against the vile enviralists even before he became president. It was no accident the following was signed by X42 as he was stealing the china, drapes and carpets from the White House:

Back in December 2000, President Clinton and Vice President Gore were busy fellows — what with dishes to pack, furniture to ship and an election to contest. So busy were they that they neglected to read some of the fine print in a cascade of administration-ending paperwork. One of these was an obscure item called the "Federal Data Quality Act" (FDQA), which was dutifully signed by the president.

Put simply, the FDQA prohibits the use of junky science in the promulgation of federal regulations and laws. And, now that the new hats are in town, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that the FDQA is being turned against the "science" of the Clinton-Gore team, particularly concerning the global environment.

Thank you Bill Clintoon for doing one correct thing during your soiling of this country!

It is important to note that it is a heck of a lot easier to get funding if you are studying 'Global Warming', or 'Impending Climate Change' or 'Catastrophic and Dangerous Trends in the Troposphere' instead of just 'Let's just see what's going on'. Especially in the last administration. Not all scientists are happy with the drumbeat of the Global Warming pygmies, and not all of the data supports them.

Studies of the ENTIRE atmosphere from space (only available since passive microwave satellites have been on orbit) don't see the trend that is everywhere else. For more info, see Microwave Sounding Unit home page. EXCELLENT source.

(shoulda screen named myself meteorologist, but then folks would want to know about meteor showers.......)

And it is, too. But again, this problem is political in origin rather than scientific.
