Buying A Gun Might Soon Be Illegal In Oregon
Shop Owners Await New Paperwork |
PORTLAND -- It might soon be illegal to purchase a gun in Oregon. Regulations recently passed by the Oregon Legislature require business owners to fill out paperwork anytime they sell or transfer ownership of a gun. Without the form, the sale is illegal. The law go into effect at midnight Tuesday, but Oregon gun shop owners say that they have not yet received the new paperwork. "Approximately 30 percent of the secondhand stores, I'm not sure what the margin is for big retailers, but its substantial. Not only that, but it's effecting a constitutional right, so you know somebody dropped the ball," gun shop owner Lance Barkley says. It is not known when that paperwork is supposed to arrive. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms regulates the new program. |
Cache AP and fight these socialist's every step they take with votes and legal challenges. And when they get to your front porch ........
Stay Safe !
The Maryland law only applies to handguns. I think most manufacturers now supply a fired case, even for those weapons not bound for Maryland. But yes, in the transition period, this program did slow sales, which is presumably just what was intended.
We also have a new law this year which requires one to sit through a 2 hour "safety" video in order to be able to purchase a handgun. We also have a 2+ week waiting period for handgun and restricted weapon (so-called "assault weapons") sales. And a discretionary CCW system. And a magazine limit.
It's so much safer now here in "The Free State" ...
This propbably isn't news to you, but a ping, nonetheless.
The plan of attack is very simple and longstanding: Turn a right into a privilige by requiring licenses, then revoke the licenses. Easy.
Demographically, Oregon is just New England and the Mid-Atlantic States transported to the Pacific Coast. They've always voted that way, too. When political guru Kevin Phillips was a teenager, he did a political voting-pattern map of the United States by county. When he was done, you could see strings and streamers of color flowing east to west on the map. The map was interesting enough that Richard Nixon took a look, and later gave Phillips a job.
Oregon being due west of Massachusetts and New York, Oregonians act like Taxachusetts commissars and New Yorkers.
Not easy while we are breathing and still have bullets.
A little off topic, could you imagine which countries would come to aid the embattled US Government, and what armament they would bring? What our neighborhoods and homes would look like? In the US, CW2 would look more like WW3.
OTOH, Molon Labe. And a BLOAT for good measure.
I think to imagine CW2 you might look at elements of the Spanish Civil War of the 30s, Argentina in the 70s, and Ireland from the 70s to the 90s.
