Deerfield Beach, FL, Founders Day,
Tomorrow Saturday February 16th is our Founders Day Parade, it rolls through town, all the floats and convertibles loaded down with City Council members.
Two years ago our town voted down a resolution for redeveloping our Beach. The city leaders have ignored this and approved plans to over develop the property at the Northwest corner of A1A and Hillsboro. It is time for the citizens of Deerfield Beach to rebel and crash the Councils Party. I urge all citizens to take up signs and posters along the parade route. I have two suggestions for the signs but you are welcome to make your own.
What Part of NO Dont You Understand
or
Since Enron Dried Up, The city Council Looks To Soak The Beach
or maybe
If We Honored Term Limits, The Beach Wouldnt Be An Issue
I especially urge the people who ignored our term limits and voted these incumbents back into office, to correct their mistakes, they are the people responsible for inflating the City Councils ego so they think they are royalty who can do no wrong.
It Is Time To Let Them Know They Are Wrong!
This is not a fight it is a war. Whenever our City Council faces opposition they use the same tactics to squash it. Mayor Capellini usually leads the charge by condescendingly identifying the dissatisfied as extreme lunatics, or a fringe group of extremists and then dances around the issues.
The City Council are elitists, who look at the citizens of Deerfield Beach as their servants, when they are supposed to be serving us. They salivate over the Beach, ignoring areas to the west.
The River View, vacant for years is falling apart due to neglect, broken windows, a torn canvas awning and ripped clapboards, are the first impressions for boaters entering Deerfield Beach via the Intra Coastal Waterway. The area around Dixie Hwy is constantly in need of attention, there are families here that are in need of immediate assistance. Our City needs to focus on its citizens and stop wasting money.
Our Beach is not a plighted area in need of redevelopment, if we look around City Hall, we may find a plight in need of redevelopment. It is time for City Officials to be accountable to the desires of Deerfield Residents and stop wasting money on things that the citizens already said NO to.
They have a surf cam on their web site and also a Tribute to Kirk Cottrell the stores founder who passed away this past summer.
Thank You , I very much appreciate it.
Sincerely Matthew
Ive made 15 signs using two messages, to pass out along the parade route, What Part Of No Dont You Understand and Leave Our Beach Alone. Each sign is tagged with the FreeRepublic address.
I cant wait to see the Mayors face when he approaches the bridge to cross over to the island tomorrow.
Entertainment for the evening is Jimmy Buffets house band The Land Sharks, Im going to try to get them to display the signs on stage while they perform.
With any luck we should have a bunch of new recruits for the Florida Chapter of FreeRepublic tomorrow and the Deerfield Beach City Council and Mayor will learn their place as servants to the people.
