The Clovis Unified School Board voted 5-2 to approve the club, with members Richard Lake and Susan Walker dissenting.

Supporters say the club promotes tolerance and equality among students of varying sexual orientation; people against the club say it promotes homosexuality and has no place in the schools.

Yes annie, any club goes now, with one exception, an WASP club would not be allowed, but anything else apparently goes.

Afraidfortherepublic, was the "Okies" section of CA in the Steinbeck novels the Central Valley (Fresno) area? Fresno must be in the adjoining district to Condit??? Does Fresno have a Democrat congressman?

I really think that the people who whine about gay clubs should do that -- because such a club would have to be allowed under the same law that requires schools to accomidate gay clubs (or they must accomidate none at all). Rather than wringing your hands over the horrors of the homosexuals, get off your duff and make them look like fools.

It all SOUNDS so tolerant, so reasonable, so where a "progressive community ought to be." However, everywhere you look these days, you are being bombarded with the radical homosexual agenda. They're in everybody's face, wanting to be heard, to be more than included--to be lionized for their manner of having sex; to EXPLAIN to your kids just how unjustly they're treated.

We're supposed to spend time being beaten over the head with their victimhood and if we dare to see homosexuality as a deviant, unproductive lifestyle leading to no good in society, let us be stoned for our intolerance--we're homophobes, even if we accept them as Productive Human Beings in their work, admire their creativity, and offer friendship--nope we're intolerent, gay-bashers if we can't approve their lifestyle.

There is NO WAY this club is going to promote tolerence. It is going to split this community and entice some teens with raging hormones to try homosexuality, get thoroughly confused and maybe think they're "gay." And this attitude is RAMPANT throughout the country--AND getting federal money for school programs. This club should be named The Gay and Lesbian Recruitment Club.

Why not teach animal sex, masocistic sex, sex with students in lower grades? It's all the same.

If it's "all the same" to you you need some help and quick.

I also think you, the other parents & people of Clovis should ban together in tax protest. And withhold your taxes. It’s good you’ve got your kids out. But Your Money still flows in.

I remember Clovis being a nice little town And Fresno too. When I was in CA and would head down there Would get off 99 and the first stoplight you’d hit was on Blackstone. Now I hear Fresno sounds like the 4th of July every night.

Sexual perversion is sexual perversion. The fact that your're willing to carve off a chunk of that putrid sausage and call it filet mignon doesn't change a thing.

Public schools should be places of essential learning--not atheist-insipired humanist indoctrination.

Equal-access laws say the district cannot discriminate against a student or student organization on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religious belief or sexual identity.

Then it means that any "sexual identity" is OK. Necrophilia, bestiality, exhibitionism, incest and whatever is listed in the old psychiatric handbook.

Gay-Straight "Alliances" mean more fed and state health and Safe School grant dollars.

Always, follow the money, read the law, and study state and federal grant materials.

re:
"..I observed a lesbi couple break-up in a children's park-- it wasn't pretty..."

Sit in any lawyer's office during any "normal" divorce case,
you'll fully appreciate single life much more.

I've been married over 38 yrs. We have had heterosexual friends
(couples) break up after five years of wedded bliss, and homosexual
friends (couples) that are still living together after 20+ years. As far
as I know, the gay couples are devoted to one another and take
any sexual relationship outside their bond as we would take any
breaking of our marriage bonds.

What's in a nomenclature; what's the difference who loves whom?
Male/female; male/male, or female/female. If two people care for
one another and choose to remain together, I'm sure they'll have
the same God's blessings that all others might enjoy.

Thanks
