The state attorney's office wont seek jail time for the daughter of Gov. Jeb Bush, after she was arrested this week on a felony charge of prescription drug fraud, State attorney Willie Meggs said on Friday.
Instead of the maximum 5 years in prison , Noelle Bush, 24 is facing mandatory attendance at a Leon County drug court for up to 18 months Meggs said.

So now we are subsidizing her rehab? The absurdity of the War on Some Drugs Used By Anyone but the Rich and Connected is striking.

Noelle is not a violent drug offender, the Florida jails are full with violent criminals already.

So glad to see "American blind justice" at work. No special treatment for those of stature. It just wouldn't be right.

Fo a first time drug offender. I'm not.

Looks like they wanted to get this out of the papers quick. Oh well, we never really expected her to face the same punishments as a regular citizen.

When the misdeamenaor shoplifting charged was cleared in Arizona, there was no need to clog the justice system further.

Why dont you prove your point instead of whining? If you can support your contention that her sentence is not the same sentence a black kid would get for the same crime then I become your ally.
As it is, I see Anti War on Drug people complaining because a user didn't go to the joint. The hypocrisy reeks.

Actual success rate for those "drug courts" is exceptionally
low. The person has to
really want to change, and to have an environment ( solid counselling, etc. ) which will facilitate such a change.
1. Most drug users don't really want to change ;
2. The Courts often sentence
pushers to these programs;thereby putting them together with a fresh supply of needy customers.
3. The most usual sentence for failure to complete such a program successfully is
probation , which is really no different from the "drug court" program.
ps: I spent 2 years working in one of the more highly rated programs-which was, all things considered, a dismal failure.

Wow! They moved quickly on that one. My experience is that the wheels of justice move exceedingly slow. Most defendants need time to hide behind the elaborate excuses concocted by their lawyers-- all this takes time.
When you just go in and admit the truth, it is quite speedy.
Anyone who wants to argue that Noelle got special privelege, blast away, but get your facts straight first.
To: Boner1
Well that did it, I'm convinced now you know of what you speak.

Prove your point instead of just blustering. She had no priors. Show how things would be different if she were.
