So now we are subsidizing her rehab? The absurdity of the War on Some Drugs Used By Anyone but the Rich and Connected is striking.

So glad to see "American blind justice" at work. No special treatment for those of stature. It just wouldn't be right.

Actual success rate for those "drug courts" is exceptionally
low. The person has to
really want to change, and to have an environment ( solid counselling, etc. ) which will facilitate such a change.
1. Most drug users don't really want to change ;
2. The Courts often sentence
pushers to these programs;thereby putting them together with a fresh supply of needy customers.
3. The most usual sentence for failure to complete such a program successfully is
probation , which is really no different from the "drug court" program.
ps: I spent 2 years working in one of the more highly rated programs-which was, all things considered, a dismal failure.

Actually this is very good news and the right result. My prayers are with Noelle and the Bush family.

I am sympathetic to Noelle and her parents.... Just wish the Bush family had compassion for OUR kids... OUR kids go to jail.
To: codebreaker
My guess is that she has more serious problems than "just a drug habit".
Lets hope her family can help her to get straightened out.
Hopefully they won't use the Joe Kennedy solution - a Prefrontal Lobotamy.

This should put the democrats at that other site in a quandry.
Look at it this way: They hate her because she's a Bush. She was busted for prescription drug fraud, and I'm sure they'd love to see her locked up and getting all sorts of bad press for jail time. But their mantra is "treatment, not punishment." But will they be happy to see it applied in this case, or will they be railing for her to go to prison?
Personally, I'm glad that she's getting treatment, but if she screws up again, then it's time for punishment.

It must be nice to be able to get away with a felony.

First let me say, I hope Noelle, gets treatment instead of jail, the same goes for anybdy else, whether they live in the inner cities, trailer parks, barrios, or just good ol' small towns. It is time to be frank, to some of you who support the WOD, many people out in the public square, who will hear of this news, will write it off as another example of a rich or a politically connected person getting off, and that my friends, undermines the credibility of the drug war. The only time somebody who is part of the elite, gets jail time, is when it is politically expedient(i.e X42 getting brother Roger jailed) or when the person is beyond control (like Robert Downey Jr.). But most of the time, whenever a Kennedy,or some other elite gets pinched, a mere slap of the wrist as well as treatment, The movie "Traffic" shows this. IMHO, I think it is time to put Doctors and Health Professionals at the forefront, of the drug issue. Judges Lawyers and Law Enforcement, should be secondary. I'll admit I am not totally sold on legalization, like of the some of the more hard core libertarians, but I know, that the present situation is a failure.

Coke users take Xanax to alleviate symptoms of a coke crash. The whole family is a bunch of cokeheads. No, I take that back. Some of them are ex-cokeheads.
