I have one 23 going on 15, at least in some areas of her life. Her middle name is Noelle in fact. Hhhmmm. Age is not necessarily indicative of maturity, but it does determine who is or is not accountable.

It sounds as if her family have been addressing this problem and have been forthcoming about it. I don't see the problem here; at least not from a political standpoint.

I always thought the nickname Shrub was clever and amusing, regardless of the political proclivities of those who coined and popularized it. I like it even better, now that the dear little Shrub has gone and gotten himself elected President, engineered us a nice tax cut, and is kicking terrorists' butts around the world. I want a button that reads "SHRUB POWER!".

The term "Shrub" is the sweetest revenge of all. Anne Richards is said to have remarked in early 1994: "Weeeel, I'm running against a little Shrub!". That's when she was thirty points up on Bush. The Shrub turned out to be a little too prickly for her own good.

Molly Ivins tried to do the same thing, as did Jim Hightower. Both are still in Austin with the rest of the Texas liberals. The Shrub that they loved to hate is in the White House leading a global war against terrorism.

It turns out that the Shrub won after all.

Now if some people on this board don't like the fact that I call him Shrub, perhaps they want to check out my pro-Bush, pro-Republican bona fides going back to 1998 (well, truth in advertising here, I liked McCain for a while-the whole POW thing seemed attractive. In the end, however, once McCain started to turn on the Conservatives, he lost me). So c'mon Reagan Man! Butch up! Show that I'm a Democrat! In fact, I demand that you show everyone here that I'm a DU member.

FYI Al Gore's son was caught smoking pot, and nothing happened to him. The media didn't report it, and I bet most American's still don't know it.

And what about Al Gore's son's drunk driving in North [South?] Carolina during the last Presidential campaign? He was also driving at escessive speeds. I believe the case was delayed until after last November's elections and the boy got off with a slap on the wrist. No reports in the media.

If this keeps up, the networks should be bombarded with reminders about the Gore kid. Totally unfair.

I was prescribed Xanax by a family doctor for a very brief period of time -- only a few days -- to help me get past a very stressful situation. Luckily, I never had any need for it before or since. It was very calming and effective and I could see how someone could become dependent on it. That does not justify forging a prescription or whatever happened here. The daughters of these people did not chose to be in the public eye. The media runs around like little 16 year old groupies hoping for a juicy tidbit to sell magazines. That's all this is. The bigger scandle they can turn this into, the better. But this isn't just about informint the public or selling publications. Something else is being sold here. It's an agenda.

Is anyone under the impression that Chelsea never had a story important enough to print in the newspapers? She was given a total pass. You know what, I think that's appropriate. I may think her folks are the devil's spawn, but that doesn't give us license to screw with their child.

The Bush kids should be given the same treatment. You know it. I know it. And we both know that the media is and will continue to play games along these lines.

Everything positive about Chelsea will be shouted to the mountain tops. Everything negative will be deemed unworthy of publication. Every worthy about the Bush siblings will be deemed unworthy of publication, and their negatives broadcast to the four corners of the earth.

Or the messenger becomes part of the story when a Democrat Party Worker who happens to be a manager of a Texas restaurant calls the cops (on 911, no less) and the newspapers at the same time to nail the Bush girls.

It doesn't matter. I'm watching MSNBC run this story as something on the order of Federal Marshals having discovered Hitler alive in Argentina.

The Florida press will be all over this since they want Bush out and Reno (or McBride, pick your Democrat) in. Well, maybe not the Florida Times-Union out of Jacksonville. But the rest of the state's Rat papers will.

Anyone who is a junior in the Bush family will be under scrutiny. Suppose the Bush who happens to be a model was caught in flagrente delecto with Prince William of Wales? She'd be blamed!

When you're a Bush, you have to recognize that the Democratic National Committee's prison bitch, otherwise known as the media, is gunning for your family and that the Family Business comes first. You can't run off like Fredo Corleone did with Hyman Roth. Not good.

In my observation I would suggest that's it's because we are dealing with two different groups of people...one group who play by the rules of decency and civility, and another who couldn't define either.
