Vanity Post on Vanity Posts, Duplicate Posts, Trash Posts, Commie Propaganda, etc., Vol V, No. 1
Free Republic | Jan 25, 2002 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/25/2002 9:38:23 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). Also, please do a search on a significant word from the title of your article before posting. This will reduce the number of duplicates. And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.

And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). Free Republic was intended to be a socialist free zone. We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here?

And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on. And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). The idea is to get more conservatives elected, not to trash the ones you don't like. If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat. Thank you.

And QUIT dredging up old communist propaganda to smear our conservatives. Sheesh! Whatever else you may think about our guys, they did not hijack airliners full of people and crash them into buildings. No, my friends, not even the dreaded CIA. Anyone who would believe (or even suspect) that crap is no FReeper. I've been pulling this crap whenever I see it and several people have been banned for continuing to post it. I do not want it on Free Republic. Any current FR poster who believes this leftist propaganda, please logoff immediately, send me your resignation via email, and I will delete your account.

Thanks,

Jim

I suppose Ronald Reagan was a "my way, or the highway" kinda guy according to you.

He was a man of principle who stood strong and led the US the way it should be led.

Wow, when did the views I just espoused become "extremist?"

Scary.

How about gloves on or off.

Or, Great minds speak about places, things and ideas. Small minds speak about people.

Besides, low-taxes, limited government intrusion in our lives, no-limit prosperity, and thus, FREEDOM isn't exactly a hard sell--with the right salesman, of course.

I don't know how old you are but Regean was "my president". Having said that; tell me what he did differently in his first term that GWB has not done in his first year?

Question: How can you tell who's a conservative because politicians tell us what we want to hear and then, by and large, their true colors come out after they are elected? Remember how clinton usurped the repub agenda?
For instance, is guiliani or riordan (Calif) considered conservatives because they wear a republican label?
As a reminder, guiliani supported cuomo over Gov Pataki and he has aligned himself with mayor bloomberg of N.Y>

As for personal vilification of someone, anyone, that should not be allowed.
I am registered as a "declined to state" in CA, and I never vote for a party, rather, I vote for a candidate and I watch their voting record. I can live with a conservative voting record of 75% to 80%, but, none lower.

Yikes! Now that you got be to thinking about the comparison, I find they are so similar it's amazing.

The military moral has improved. A big tax cut. Lots of activity in congress.

And GWB has done that in only one year and it's only the half of it.

Look, I'm not talking about B43 specifically. I simply think we have enough "comfy-cozy" grey area in the country right now. We need leaders who don't get shaky when delivering the message of freedom to the American individual. I see way too much compromise, kissing up, and pandering.

The universe is very much "my way or the highway." Reality is what it is and its pretty unforgiving--ask any gazelle that didn't see the lion coming.

The principles that the Founding Fathers put forth were very clear. And they brought them to life at the risk of a stretched neck. Freedom is a job--not a gift--and its not permanent. To the extent you fail to demand that your leaders stand perfectly behind that which is pro-freedom will you live as a pawn of other men, i.e., your government.

Bush has followed the Regean model almost to a tee. What some people that are too young or have forgotten is that the far right leveled almost the same charges at the Gipper that they are now demonizing GWB with.

I agree. Polititians, lawyers and accountants should all be watched. As to RINOs, they have their value, even though they don't tow the republican line. So do DINOs.

I believe their are more DINOs than RINOs in the House. That is a good thing. Politics make for strange bedfellows.

As to election make up, Nobody did that dance better than Clinton. All those promises he made and the media never called him on it. Most polititians would not be so lucky and would have to do as they portrayed themselves. After a few years they can say they evolved.

That is a fine sentiment but it means nothing until you can change the priorities of the electorate. The purpose of this thread seems to me to be trying to get back to persuasion in lieu of beating those that do not agree with us into submission.

I am afraid some of our libertarian members are taking offense(as in first amendment), regarding some changes they see. I agree with one poster today who said that guiding FR is like herding cats or pushing a rope. I used to lurk way back during Clinton and I expected to see anti Clinton rants etc. I never expected to see anti-Bush threads.(this is the only words I can use to decribe them) They are critical because he is not far enough to the right.

He never represented himself as a right winger before the election. He has generally been farther to the right than I expected, yet he is criticized. I don't get it?

I have said nothing remotely regarding any kind of force or "beatings."

I thought I stated something quite different.

It's much easier to "pursuade" an individual to stay free than to "pursuade" a power-monger not to enslave his fellow man, isn't it? Methinks our "leaders" today make far too many attempts at the latter.

I guess it will wind down into chaos then. Reality won't be ignored. We are either free, or not.

If we don't have the stomach to demand that our leaders keep us free, and risk offending the mostly-unthinking masses, then we're ripening for the tyrants plucking.

Oh, and yes, what an extremist and tyrant I'd be. The first thing I'd do with absolute power is to refuse it--except to make certain no other man could gain it.

I am no advocate of the Libertarian party. I am not "far-right."--unless of course the Founding Fathers were "far-right."

It was just a figure of speech. It is obvious that you are on a holy crusade and more power to you, just remember, if you want to lead you have to look over your shoulder occasionally to see if anyone is following. Comparing yourself to the Founders is a bit much but hey if that winds your clock go for it.

"holy crusade"

You've grown tired of the debate I guess. When all else fails you can always turn to pseudo-witty insults.

Goodnight.

Chilling!

I get a chill at the thought of American citizens being disarmed by their government. I get a chill thinking about millions of my fellow citizens unable to defend themselves against those that wish to do us harm - be it a criminal or possibly a future tyrannical government that some claim "will never happen here." Freedom is fragile. A tyrannical government would struggle to shackle 8 million armed citizens - even if they were armed with just hunting rifles and handguns.

Icy winds blow in from from New York...

My blood runs cold at the thought of our boys in the service being asked to don a UN uniform and sign off to shoot a fellow American whenever the UN, a foreign power, deems it necessary. The idea of the UN is like holding a neighborhood watch meeting and inviting the local thugs and burglars. Americans will have to stoop to them -- they will refuse to rise to us. They despise our greatness. Clinton is a disgrace to me, and every American. He would dare to join these vicious people in their attacks on my countrymen and my freedom.

Clinton would dare to disarm me whilst creating a foreign army and hiring "Americans" to possibly shoot me down. Shoot me down, as my beliefs do not fall in line with the UN's efforts to create a one-world neck for a one-world leash.

We're having a heatwave now...but why am I feeling so cold?

There was no debate just circular argument. I am simply acknowledging that nothing I could say would lessen your obvious contempt for anyone that does not reach your bar of conservatism. Sleep well.

Thanks

I was dabbling in colorful language with this one. Didn't quite work, though.

Oh well, a poet I'm not.
