Vanity Post on Vanity Posts, Duplicate Posts, Trash Posts, Commie Propaganda, etc., Vol V, No. 1
Free Republic | Jan 25, 2002 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/25/2002 9:38:23 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). Also, please do a search on a significant word from the title of your article before posting. This will reduce the number of duplicates. And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.

And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). Free Republic was intended to be a socialist free zone. We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here?

And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on. And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). The idea is to get more conservatives elected, not to trash the ones you don't like. If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat. Thank you.

And QUIT dredging up old communist propaganda to smear our conservatives. Sheesh! Whatever else you may think about our guys, they did not hijack airliners full of people and crash them into buildings. No, my friends, not even the dreaded CIA. Anyone who would believe (or even suspect) that crap is no FReeper. I've been pulling this crap whenever I see it and several people have been banned for continuing to post it. I do not want it on Free Republic. Any current FR poster who believes this leftist propaganda, please logoff immediately, send me your resignation via email, and I will delete your account.

Thanks,

Jim

It is leading. A common debate tactic here on FR.

It would certainly help if my question, asked in earnest, were answered specifically and dircectly. I assure you, I am not trying to be argumentative.

I am trying to understand what the boundaries are here, and I'm not getting much help.

I don't know if I can help. This is your call.

I think Jim's post was pretty clear. I read it more than once though.

I believe it does a fair job of representing both sides, yet other talking-heads dub Fox News as "conservative."

At least we hear the conservative side on Fox. I do get tired of each show doing the same stories though with even the same guests. In their rush to provide news 24 hours a day, they jump on any far-out action which provides a controversy. This gives these weirdo's a platform and hearing the kooks every day begins to scare one.

Let me see if I can help
If you suspect a Republican official is not living up to your conservative standards then calmly point out the conservative issue you wish he would address correctly - but do not viciously attack him (or her) on a personal level. Leave that for the Democrats to do. Be persuasive, not destructive, in your criticisms and advice.

Have you ever stopped to consider that those "socialist" republicans come from areas that simply will NOT elect anyone more conservative and to your liking? The fact is that, in the end, a politician is elected by those that agree with their stances on the issues.

Good point tex. I have this problem in my district. The dem is a blue dog and seems to be the lesser of two evils. The republican he replaced (Jay Dickey) switched parties from a dem and lost the union vote. End result was he could not hold the seat.

Oh, this is a good reason to throw principle right out the window. What, when reason is unpopular you desert it for fashionable ignorance?

And to what end--a nation led by actors? Give me a break. We need thinking people to run our country--not wobbly-kneed chameleons.

One of the big problems with things right now is that the politicians will don whatever mask they need to to satisfy their power-lust.

I want to know what the politician values--not about his method-acting skill.

To accept anything less is to accept corruption, chaos, and the eventual fall of our country.

Yep. Republicans have no principles. Guess we'll just have to toss them all out then and let the Democrats run the country.

I can see nailing Lott to the wall if you are a Mississippi voter. I'll bet your not, so your critical retort means little or nothing. If you are then I withdraw my words.

I totally agree with you, here! What I'm trying to figure out is, whether or not these socialist republicans are beyond critism on this website. I read what appeared to be some contradictory elements in Jim's post with regard to the conservative/Republican issue. I asked a pointed question about this in an earnest effort to get clarification.

"Republicans have no principles."

I did not say Republicans have no principles--nothing of the sort. I was refering certain politicians seeking office--not to Republicans in general.

Val, I believe I have always done this! My question is this: What is the difference between a Democrat and a liberal Republican? I would criticize their inconsitencies or positions on policies equally -- regardless of political affiliation. Am I not supposed to criticize the Republican?

No, what you get if you follow such a hard line is a country ruled for a generation by the Liberals. This "my way or the highway" BS is a recipe for disaster. The GOP is a party of many factions. From thee far right to the so-called "moderates that for generations voted democrat. Those folks left due to the democrats own version of the "my way or the highway" far left extremists. There is no way in hell that any political extreme can hold sway in this country and have any influence as a viable political force. You can hold those that do not share your particular definition of conservatism up to ridicule if that is your concept of "principle" but all you get in return is further hardening of positions on both sides. The fact is that people are not swayed in religion or politics to change their views until and unless they decide for themselves that such a change is required.
