Vanity Post on Vanity Posts, Duplicate Posts, Trash Posts, Commie Propaganda, etc., Vol V, No. 1
Free Republic | Jan 25, 2002 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/25/2002 9:38:23 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). Also, please do a search on a significant word from the title of your article before posting. This will reduce the number of duplicates. And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.

And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). Free Republic was intended to be a socialist free zone. We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here?

And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on. And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). The idea is to get more conservatives elected, not to trash the ones you don't like. If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat. Thank you.

And QUIT dredging up old communist propaganda to smear our conservatives. Sheesh! Whatever else you may think about our guys, they did not hijack airliners full of people and crash them into buildings. No, my friends, not even the dreaded CIA. Anyone who would believe (or even suspect) that crap is no FReeper. I've been pulling this crap whenever I see it and several people have been banned for continuing to post it. I do not want it on Free Republic. Any current FR poster who believes this leftist propaganda, please logoff immediately, send me your resignation via email, and I will delete your account.

Thanks,

Jim

Don't agitate me on this issue. It wouldn't take much to push me into the pro-life side again. parsy.

I believe if you search my posts, you will find that I do, in fact, criticize policy positions and inconsistencies of politicians, whether they are Republicans or Democrats. But I do NOT believe that most Republicans are conservative. I find plenty of evidence to the contrary. If that belief is a position that is not wanted on FreeRepublic, then please let me know and I will go elsewhere. Thank you!

"Am I Logged IN" had more posts then any I could remember. I think it served a purpose.

Thank you. It was supposed to.

*Saucer-eyed* Is it really...really you?

Bill, I don't think Jim said anything like being critical of a conservative regarding policy was a no-no. He only stated that we should not trash them personally. I feel this is perfectly acceptable. In my opinion, which I have a few of, We should be even more considerate of conservatives during the election cycle. This is my opinion and not Jim's. I am worried the election results could be hurt if the party eats it's own, as I have stated.

There are a few posters who hate republicans only slightly less than democrats and this stuff gets out all over the ether. As to the definition of a true conservative is concerned, I don't think there is one. We have a wide range of views on all subjects but generally agree on most issues. What we need to do is work with the issues on which we agree and agree to disagree on the others without having to put on the flame suit. I think I have summed up what he said. If not, let me know.

Thanks Jim.

It seems to me that now that 4 1/2 months have passed since 9/11 that New York and New Yorkers are free game again for target practice.

I'm a New Yorker. I already have to hang my head in shame that many of the dopey people that live around me voted for HER.
Seems to me that there's plenty of places everywhere in America that have the same kind of dopes, voting for the same type of people. It's not just a NY problem.

In the past week I've read posts saying:
New York is a Cesspool.
New York is a Rats nest of liberal scum.
Theres even a guy on here saying that NYC is not part of America, which I take as meaning that he does not consider us Americans. Only foreigners live here. We should do the rest of the country a favor and let the Island just drift off...

Just to name a few. The "NY should be Nuked" was last month.

I have to wonder, if someone from NYC (and there's lots of us) came to this forum for the first time, maybe looking to change their political views, after reading such crap, they would leave and never come back.
They'd never be won over to a more conservative view.
I understand that many people are angry over the way some of the families of WTC are conducting themselves.
Hell, I agree with then.
But the seething hatred of all people that are labelled NYers just gives me the creeps.

Well, I live in the South and in the past week I've been called a "hillbilly" and "trailor park trash". So I guess people around here are equal opportunity bashers. LOL

So am I to assume that FreeRepublic is NOT a conservative website, but rather a Republican website?

Jim, while we have you on this thread, could you please tell me if posting one of those vanities about having computer problems is acceptable or not? When you were talking about mindless vanities I kinda got the impression you meant things like "mooses eating cheese" and "what's your favorite rap group" and not talking about technical issues (such as computer problems) and scientific articles. Thanks.

Sorry to hear that.
I can take quite a bit of jabbing (you have to living here).
"Lets Nuke NY" and then the other dope telling me I'm not an American!

Guess that just pushed me over the edge.

I believe you are refering to the thread about "The NY pity-party"? Am I correct? I was on that thread and saw the posts you are talking about. If I recall it was only 2 people saying stuff like "NY is not in the USA" and things like that. The whole purpose of that thread should have been to discuss the the greed (or lack thereof) of a CERTAIN FEW family members of WTC victims. Unfortunately, the title of the thread doomed it from the start.

Here is the part about which I am confused. Jim wrote:

My reply was not written flippantly, but rather in earnest as follows:

I fail to see the distinction between trashing a Democrat and trashing a non-conservative Republican, of which there are many!

If it is okay to trash a Democrat because of his/her socialistic policies -- why is it not okay to trash a Republican who espouses socialistic policies? I would like clarification on this issue. Moreover, I had stated that a search of my posts will reveal that my criticisms of both Democrats and Republicans are based on their policies or observed inconsistencies between what they say and what they do. If Jim does not want criticisms of Republicans -- PERIOD -- I would like to know that.

Assume whatever you want.

I am not trying to be flippant or disrespectful. I am trying to get clarification. Do you NOT want criticism of Republicans -- period?

I'm confused because I cannot tell whether or not you are equating conservatives with all Republicans.

Yes, that was one of them and unfortunately from a poster I once had some respect for. Maybe thats why it got to me.

You're right, I should have stayed away from that one when I read the title. But there's others. Threads on WTC memorial, Mayoral race etc. They just POP them in there whenever they can.

Hey, maybe I'm still climbing out of the blues here, I don't know.

I know I don't want Any Americans in Any part of the country any harm. :)
