HOUSTON, Texas (CNN) -- Former Enron Corp. vice chairman J. Clifford Baxter was found dead Friday, the victim of an apparent suicide, police in a Houston suburb said.

Baxter made millions on the sale of Enron stock but quit the company in May, reportedly unhappy with Enron's business practices. The 43-year-old former executive was found dead at 2:23 a.m. Friday, said Pat Whitty, a police spokeswoman in the Houston suburb of Sugar Land. "Baxter had an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head," Whitty said. "He was discovered inside a vehicle ... A suicide note was found at the scene. There was no sign of foul play. Inside his wallet was an ID indicating he was an employee of Enron."

This is about the umpty-ninth article I've read that doesn't mention family, wife, children, parents, brothers or sisters.

Maybe Enron was his family.

"The suicide note, found several days later was engraved in stainless steel and welded to the hood of his car along with a rotating, 750,000 candlepower flood lamp. It had previously been overlooked by investigators during a routine search of his automobile and garage."

I wonder if the note was torn up into 17 little pieces, with one piece (the piece where the signature would be) missing.

I dunno..

But from what I saw about this guy, he was one of the biggest opponents of their shady accounting practices and he probably resigned over it. (he stepped down from the Vice Chair after only 9 months) Plus, he had millions.

He just doesn't seem like a likely candidate for a suicide at the moment. Because, I don't see him taking it in the neck for this.

Another one with a gun shot to the head, sounds like another Vince Foster or Ron Brown case to me. When people know to much and the Dems are involved they all wind up dead. The Dems had to do what ever it took to take control of the Senate, they needed keep out judges and make sure they are in control of any hearings or investigations. More to Enron and the Clinton's than they are telling. If the Republicans go after the Clinton's and Rubin,Hitlary will come out and call it a right wing conspiracy and the people will fall for it. I wonder if all the US treasury books have been carefully gone over. With Bob Rubins figures we could very well find this country in the same shape as Enron. Many secret deals were going down and Trent Lott wouldn't go after Rubin, he let him off the hook. Hitlary want Chaney to talk about his meetings with Enron but Hitlary won't talk about her meetings with Terrorist groups.

The stock is now worth less than a dollar a share.

Aaah, a buying opportunity. Except, I thought the NYSE decertified them...

I wonder if the same former Arkansas state trooper that did Foster also did Baxter? Has anyone seen Craig Livingstone lately? What might Baxter have known that Willie would want him unable to speak? Anyone done a search on Baxter's connection with the White House (coffees? Lincoln Bedroom?), the DNC, Ron Brown, trade missions, academic relationships with Clintons/Rose law firm, and so on?

, he was one of the biggest opponents of their shady accounting practices

It doesn't MATTER if he verbally opposed anything....he himself PROFITED from the shady dealings and was being sued for that and knew he was going DOWN for his INSIDER fraud.....everybody is so puzzled by this....it just doesn't matter that he "objected" to it...he CASHED in on what he objected to.

Enron was big into water, and sewage treatment contracts, including in Mexico and China.

The Clinton administration was involved with those contracts up to their eyeballs.

Anyone know anything about Clinton Oil and gas? Most likely not the same but

affiliated with Enron just the same.

All they did was set up dummy companies that would borrow money from Enron to buy unwanted assets from

them on paper,so as to eliminate taxes from a loss, and free up the balance sheet.

These companies were run by Enron officials ( they didn't know..hehe..it was just a V.P.)

They were pillaged and plundered to the tune of billions of dollars.

One loss of 1.2 billion was contributed to an accounting error. OOPs.

Do a google search and look at the list of names involved and dummy companies set up just to do this.

Try Clinton+ Enron, etc, Amazing, but not the only company doing it.

Really fine piece of work. However you forgot to mention the Post Script that was found in a pocket of the suit he was wearing, after it returned from the cleaners.

It said, "Post Script: If anyone helped me commit my suicide, it was a representative of President Bush, not President Clinton."

Odds don't seem to favor suicide here. Here's a rich man with a conscience. Not a likey suicide candidate. Check the clinton connections.

There are many stocks whose shares were worth more than $80 last year, and today are worth under $1. I wish they would investigate them all.
