Is it still there. I lived in Montclair for a few years---light years ago!!!!
Better words never said!!!! :~)
Used to love to go there to see the lights! There was a fancy diner nearby---can't recall the name---great sandwiches!
I do hope you mean NorthWEST! I grew up in Northern Hunterdon County!
But I also love Sandy Hook. Was just there with my camera in early December. People are always surprised when they see my photos of the Holly Forests, prickly pear cactus, and dense berry bushes on the Hook. I have a framed photo of the grasses along the bay side of the Hook taken last fall. Colors are breathtaking.
I also have a now very sad shot of the Skyline taken from ocean side beach. Brings tears everytime I look at it.
Did you know that the lighthouse at Fort Hancock is the oldest in the country?
Is there such a place anymore?
I should add one to the list, realizing it now that I live in the Pacific Northwest. Here, everyone is very sensitive to the amount of time they commute to work. I've been looking for a job and it is always one of the top five questions: Will you commute 30 miles. Sheesh, in NJ I would guess that on average, one hour in the car a day is a norm. I knew many co-workers that spent 90 minutes each way. Of course, that could have been only 30 miles!!! Here, more than 15 minutes is unbearable to the locals!!!!
I'm considered a "tough chick" because I'm willing to drive more than a few minutes and am not intimidated by an inch of snow----even two or three or four inches of snow!!! In Washington, the snow belongs in the mountains. Anywhere else, and society as we know it ceases to function!

More likely, around you...and grow and grow and grow!!!!
No one's perfect!!!! That's why I posted this thread. Knew that my fellow Jerseyites would chime in and enrich it!!!

Back in ancient times, the joke was that if you accidentally crossed the bridge into Hoboken, you would likely never be seen again. It's truly a modern miracle how it has turned around!!!
Lot a great university, gave me an awesome education that makes life easier everywhere else!!!! Think I'll add that to the list:
A place that makes life everywhere else easier!!!!

Bingo! Those ads always ran late at night too. I had no walking money then so I never made it to Dennisons.
Someone earlier was asking about the Egg Skillet in Nutley and I can't say I remember that, but there was a great place in Bloomfield right near the Parkwy for eggs.

The REAL Claremont diner in Verona burned down in the late 70's/early 80's..."they" said it was a kitchen "grease" fire...and I suppose that is possible. As you know, nearly everything is possible here in NJ!
A new ultra-modern, steel and glass thing was erected on Route 3 West in Clifton called The Claremont Diner. I ate there once.

So did Tony Soprano!. it was in a scene of the Sopranos, and shortly after that it was demolished. Today it is the site of a Honda Dealer.

My wife and I moved out here to North Jersey about 5 and a half years ago from 30 to 60 miles east of Los Angeles and it only took my wife a couple of weeks to decide that New Jersey driver's motto is "Because I can!"
I'm kind of glad that the main circle in my area (Ledgewood Circle) has been turned into a Tee intersection complete with traffic lights and (practically unheard of in New Jersey, hence the reference to jug handles) even a left turn lane. That thing was a real mess.
