FReeper names explained
My curiousity | Now | Yours truly

Posted on 01/18/2002 5:03:35 PM PST by Come get it

Some FReepers have nicks that are obvious in their origin, others don't. I've seen several that probably have interesting stories behind them.

I thought it would be cool to see where FReepers get their handles from. If you don't like this topic, DON'T POST HERE! No one forces you to read this. I'm sure other people may be interested. If I'm the only one, let me know so I can crawl away in shame.

I liked the fact that Jael was a woman who could get the job done.

Judges 4:21  Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

The he in question was the bad guy. :-)

My name is neither Ernie nor Batavia....I don't remember where the "Ern" came from, but trying to register here as "Batavia", I was told that it was taken.

The 'Batavia' part comes from a label for Australian lobster tails; one of my best customers loved that name (and the tails) so much that he started called me "Batavia"....of course, he's "of color" and was probably jealous that his mom hadn't given him that birth name.

MY Name is Delmont, dats what Momma wanted to call me and I didn;t have no dayy at home, so that's why I use Delmont.

My ex wifes name was Velveeta, she was a large colored woman, her momma named her that because she was smooth, like cheese, but not that expensive Mozarella, and her momma didn't want to name her after goat cheese, or that other cheese Smegma, which I think is a another fowl smelling substance. So since Velveeta comes in a block, and its cheap, thats what her momma and daddy decided.

Mine's completely tongue in cheek, since I'm not particularly fanatic at all. But I do own a Bible, and, *GASP*, even read it fairly often..... so in this culture, I qualify as a certifiable "extremist fanatic".....

OMG, look at the time.....

So you named after a Lobster,,,,kinda like that lady in the Alleve commmercial, she was handin out drugs to all the people in the march, and they started calling her Alleve. Like, "Hi Alleve, give me some Alleve, that would alleviate my head ache from eatin' too much lobster....
My car has a Moniker, in case you folks don't know its a
72' drop top El Dorado, got a diamond rear window just like the hardtop. She is bright Pink and the prettiest thing you have ever seen. Often times, people ask me to haul dignitaries in parades. I was even in the Rose Parade last year, I was hauling around Monika Lewinski and she rode sitting on the back seat, I made her sit on a towl. Another lady named Gert was riding too, she speaks German so I couldn;t understand too much, but they waived and people were saying "Oheeeee Delmont, you are one lucky dude!" And I gots to agreee, I have been blessed, I got a nice car , my exwife got remarried so no mo alimony payments either.

Dugway Duke. I was living in Dugway, Utah when I got a wonderful great dane. After considerable debate we named him Duke Maximillian of Dugway. Duke's now a senior citizen, almost eight years old, but he's my second best friend. I've moved to Alabama now, but when it came time to register, the only thing I could think of was Dugway Duke. I'll leave it up to you whether these posts are from Duke or from me.

One of these days, Duke won't be with me any more. (Eight is old for a Dane) I don't know what I'll do then.
