Rush Limbaugh
Me ^ | Me

Posted on 01/14/2002 5:04:13 PM PST by Sparkvark

I have been a republican for over 20 years now. I am conservative in my beliefs. I am a construction electrician and a member of a union. I catch hell every election from people I work with over the way I vote.

I believe that abortion is wrong. I believe that special intrests are wrong. I believe that owning firearms is our constitutional right. I believe that perversion is wrong (homosexual rights).I believe in God and that this country was founded on a belief in God. I was in the military for 4 years and would sign up again if I I could be of use to my country. But... I believe Rush Limbaugh is a rich guy who is only out for the rich.I believe he was a complete failure for most of his life. I believe he would still be a failure if not for the clintons, and I believe he is a hypocrite.

Now, you can flame me if you like but Ill bet you if anything drastic ever happens to America Limbaugh would be one of the the first ones out, on a plane to some other country.

Flame away.

But... I believe Rush Limbaugh is a rich guy who is only out for the rich.

It was my belief, up until early last Fall, old Rushbo was losing it ... becoming complacent, even pompous, and losing touch with his audience. I expressed that view here on FReeRepublic and was called everything imaginable. Didn't matter that I had listened to him since the early '90's and was in a good position to judge ... but then things changed. Rush, as everyone knows now, has lost his hearing completely, and is courageously fighting thru it. As a result, a new humility is detectable in Rush's show ... bottom line, Rush is returning to the Rush of old. He returned to the basics ... the conservative core values that made him what he is ... he appreciates what he has and doesn't take it for granted.

The fact that he attacks Republicans just as much as Democrats when they stray from the conservative agenda certainly backs up your point.

I consider Union Workers who vote democratic as "high paid" prostitutes and "traitors" to the Free America that was founded in 1776. I think the democratic politicians are their "pimps" and anyone who is worried about taking hell from these people is not much of a patriot anyhow. As far as Rush Limbaugh. I know Rush ... and you're no Rush Limbaugh. Far from it! This man is a real patriot.

Rush has perfect delivery, a wry sense of humor, a canny sense for the audience, intelligent reasoning and as hard as it is for some to believe, he is correct all the time (great research and great talent around him). I'd listen to him regardless of what he talked about. I bet there are about 18 million others in the US who would do the same.

His latest trials are inspiring as his battle against the Left for all these years. Turn the channel if you don't enjoy it but you will only hear a knock-off guy on the other channel.

So...what would you do....get rid of all "rich guys?" And, Republican ones at that? Gotta complex over money or something? Rush is part entertainment, (some of which I don't especially care for) and part politics (most of which I agree with) and part accountability (all of which I agree with.) Jealous?

Realize that a lot of people would be failures if it wasn't 'for something.' Rush was in the right place with the right talent at the right time.

Rush is just another guy, whether he's rich or not don't matter ultimately. He's a Conservative and a Republican, ie, the kind of guy I'd cut off my right arm for. No one ever agrees on everything, and it is more efficient and effective to save the rhetorical venom for the true enemies of freedom, Liberals.

With your plethora of articulate and concise facts, layed out in such a compelling manner, who could argue with such a brilliant vanity post? You've convinced me, I will begin to hate Rush Limbaugh too.

This criticism of Rush is so personal and shallow, if I didn't know better I would say it's really a backhanded attempt to fish for Rush compliments.

The idea that Rush could be #1 for eleven years running and have an audience of 22 million, and not be a genuinely outstanding talent in his field is simply not believable.

But let's hear a take on Rush from a liberal lesbian Camille Paglia who doesn't agree with Rush's politics;

"I feel genuinely sorry for those who are so blinded by narrow partisanship that they cannot appreciate Limbaugh's energy, intelligence and satiric skill. They live in a box with bags over their heads.

Though he and I hardly agree on politics (I voted for Ralph Nader last year and may go Green again in 2004), I respect Limbaugh as a political analyst and deft rhetorician who is a master of the microphone and who knows how to engage and challenge a vast audience."

I don't think he is a hypocrit. He is an articulate, well reasoned spokesman for conservative values. BTW, your wish is my command!

As a former IBEW member who has been on both sides of the corporate/union fence, and as someone who is a flame-breathing Constitutionalist let me tell ya...

Rush is nothing but an entertainer. He'll tell you that he's an entertainer. That's what he does, he entertains. He uses "conservative" politics as a medium, but he's only an entertainer.

He's also something worse. He's a "Judas Goat." A Judas Goat is the first goat to lead the other goats into one end of the slaughterhouse but he's the only one to walk out of the other end.

Picking on DemocRats is easy just as talk is cheap. Anybody can do it; some can do it with better style than others. So what? Picking on the multi-national, corporate banking cartel and their stooges at the Feral Reserve is something else entirely. Rush would take on that challenge with as much enthusiasm as an invitation to an infectious disease quarantine ward.

What you sense about Rush is an example of something sorely missing in this country, good, ol' blue-collar common sense.

I believe Rush Limbaugh is a rich guy. I don't believe he was born rich. I believe he somehow managed to convince millions of listeners to listen to his radio program every day. This made advertisers send money to radio stations for radio spots. This made Rush Limbaugh able to demand and get lots of money.

I believe that's essentially how every successful entrepreneur gets rich. They provide something that people are willing to pay for.

I don't know if Rush could be called a failure for most of his life. It's certain that he wasn't big league for his early life, but neither were most of our great baseball players. Most of them had to spend some time in the minors honing their skills.

I think Rush's demonstrated ability to use his wit and wisdom despite a devastating loss of hearing, in a medium that is BASED on a HEARER and not a VIEWER, is nothing short of genius.

I guess we disagree. Rush Limbaugh is an inspiration (sort of an arrogant, smug one....like O'Reilly) but I enjoy listening to him far more often than I don't.
