PALM HARBOR, Fla. -- The high school freshman who stole a small airplane and crashed it into a high-rise building Saturday was a quiet boy who kept to himself and bartered for his flight lessons by cleaning airplanes.
Flight school officials said Charles J. Bishop, 15, was well versed in the operations at National Aviation Academy, where he had been taking lessons since March 2001.
Bishop was presumed dead in the crash, authorities said Saturday night.

Another tragic teenage suicide?
From the article he seemed withdrawn and not much of a participant in school or otherwise.

Something tells me that instead of shooting up a school to "make a statement," the kid decided to crash a plane.

Something tells me that instead of shooting up a school to "make a statement," the kid decided to crash a plane. And drew his "inspiration" from September 11th.

I guess watching all those Bin Laden videos got to his head and he decided dating girls his age paled in contrast to the eternal pleasures he could get from 72 virgins awaiting him in paradise.

Here comes the psychobabble. Funny how all these J.D.s are all "honor students".

Well, I already did a word search on "Charles J. Bishop" and got every instance in the past 150 years whenever one participated in an obituary, but none recent.

Anthrax suspect?
Elijah P. Wallace, 18, of Brentwood, N.H., is seen in a Brentwood police photo on Friday, Jan. 4. Wallace was arrested Friday on suspicion of breaking into a Fremont, N.H., home and told police that he sent an anthrax-laced letter to Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle and planned to send more. Investigators found five letters and a bag of white powder in the house with Wallace. Preliminary tests at the scene and on one of the letters tested negative for anthrax.

Why is the FAA allowing underage trainees of foreign extraction access to planes over urban aread? Are they completely bereft of all common sense?
To: Post Toasties
You know the government. The last thing people associate with bureaucrats is "common sense." They usually do what's obvious to everyone else after they've realized how ridiculous they look not acting in the first place. Makes you wonder how they flushed that federal surplus down the drain so quickly.
