Cooper is head of National Aviation Holdings that owned A/C. Many Florida flight schools train Arab students. Wonder if comment was made so as not to p. off students. Wonder if Arab pilot flew A/C into building. THIS IS FR EXCLUSIVE!!!

LOCAL ACCOUNT FROM TV: I saw the end results of this crash afterwards. In fact, I have worked in that very building before. What happened was that a 15 year old or so kid who has taken flight lessons for a few years was with his mom and grandmother at the flight school. They still aren't sure when he left his mom and grandmother and "stole" the aircraft. This kid also tried to fly over MacDill Air Force Base before heading north to downtown Tampa. I myself have always called downtown Tampa "The Emerald City" because when you see it from a distance, it looks like the set of the Wizard of Oz when they are in the poppies.

Anyway, Downtown Tampa is pretty tight as the building the kid hit on the 28th floor has a walkover bridge to another building which just happens to be one building over from the building Cent Command uses for Press Conferences.

I am wondering if he was trying to aim for the City Center Building which has a parking garage attached but, instead hit the side of the Bank Building that has a walkover bridge. Who knows? There are also government offices in the building he hit but they are for workers' comp hearings, etc.

Since it was a kid, did someone brainwash him and talk him into doing this or was he just suicidal? Although he had flight training, he wasn't cleared to fly alone. Obviously, he is dead and the plane is just dangling on the 28th floor but the wings fell off. I don't know if he had anyone with him or not but the people in the bldg on a Saturday got out. He hit a law firm (about the only one I haven't worked for lol).

If I hear anything else from a local perspective, I'll let you know. I didn't hear ANYTHING here about an Arab owning the flight school. Maybe they told the local news media to keep that quiet.

This is rediculous! No permission to take off....coast guard following....and everyone is what? Watching him crash into a building?

Coast Guard Helos are armed. Maybe not with air to air but they definitely have small to medium arms on board.

Who in the Heck is "homeland security" to make a call on what this was or wasnt!?

Your posts stand out because you are making the most sense. The St. Pete Flight school, whatever it's called is over here by me in St. Pete. If the kid took off from St. Pete, we have two airports here, one north of me and one south of me. This I don't know at this time.

What is clear is that he flew over Tampa Bay to get from here to Tampa and his first stop was MacDill Air Force Base, home of Central Command.

Then he flew downtown where Cent Command holds their press conferences in the City Center Building. If he violated Cent Command's air space, did any jets scramble? Did he violate Cent Command's air space? Anyone know? They are parallel to my house across the water.

The fifteen year old made some major decisions before crashing into the Bank of America Bldg which I have worked in quite a few times on higher floors. First, he visited MacDill Air Force Base (Cent Command), which is nowhere near downtown Tampa. Guess they'll have to ask his parents the usual questions. Was he depressed, on drugs, etc.

I don't know why discussion of the Koran by some posters is even here. More threads are fouled up when religion is mentioned just so people can pick fights. I do not even go to religion threads whatsoever.

I can tell you it's a long way from a St. Pete airport, to Cent Command to downtown Tampa. If he was flying that low, surrounded by buildings, he would have known he was too low. Where he hit the building was low to mid section.
