***If life is as precious to you as you claim, then should we be doing anything that invites further attacks and deaths? ***
While you contemplate your navel, enjoying the freedoms this great country has to offer, also remind yourself what price was paid for freedom. If you don't appreciate that freedom and how it was won then perhaps you could relocate to another country...say...Afghanistan. You'd do an about face in quick time.

I would not really want to adopt the enemies customs, etc. when I fight the enemy. During World War II, would the U.S. put Germans in the Gas Chambers because the Germans did that to the Jews??? That was their practice, we did not adopt that. . .
I understand what you're saying. Our military are fighting in Afghanistan. I think that the Al-Qaeda and the Taliban probably don't feel too much like our men are showing weakness. In fact, every time they look up and see the planes and see the bombs dropping I don't think their thoughts are "Gee, look at how WEAK they are!!" That is where the battle is, that is what the Taliban/AL-Qaeda are seeing. . .

Get lost. If you read the thread before posting you would have seen you were several people down the line in saying Mike Spann was not military.
Religious people are so self righteous.

Do you *always* read a thread before posting? Have you ever made a mistake in that way?
It's still unkind of you to take out your wrath on me.
As far as *religious people are so self righteous*...what about your bio? You display links to all kinds of 'religious' music/groups. Perhaps it is you, RBA, that is self righteous.
You've shown yourself to be a fool. Good bye.

We still have a long way to go. I look around and I see I lot of premature celbrations of victory. We haven't done shit yet. Was there anyone who doubted that our air power would decimate the Taliban and Al Qaeda's standing armies? Of course not. The real test is going to be against a faceless enemy waging a war of attrition against our troops on the ground, the Alliance, and UN peacekeepers. There are going to be casualties. There is no question about that. Our troops will die in ambushes, firefights, and terrorist acts committed on foreign soil. The only question is how we will react. Will we turn tail and run or will it harden our resolve..?

No one is saying that we ought to adopt the practices of the enemy. We are saying that it is foolhardy to ignore his thought processes. "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not your enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat." You are falling into that second catagory. Falling? I should say running in as fast as you can.

Funny. I thought anyone who says "you fool" is in danger of the fires of hell.
To: JMack
I respectfully disagree with you. The great thing about his site is that we have freedom of speech and the right to differ.
btw, I'm not a *big* momma. ;o)

Well, if those distinctions don't matter, then I would say the WTC workers were the first Americans killed in this war. I think the newsies just need to make every headline as dazzing as posible, and a FIRST is always 'flashier' than ANOTHER.

I don't think I said that there won't be casualties. I hope we can keep the numbers low.
We did in 2 months what the old Soviet regime failed to do in 10 years in Afghanistan. Our military have run a great operation so far. I agree, we have a long way to go. The War in Afghanistan is only beginning, no doubt. On to Somalia is what I'm hearing the last two days. But what do I know? We'll see what developes.
I don't see much difference between our opinions. Thanks for the post. . .
Excerpt of President Bush's radio address to the nation September 15, 2001 after the WTC/Pentagon Terrorists Attacks of September 11, 2001: This is a conflict without battlefields or beachheads, a conflict with opponents who believe they are invisible. Yet, they are mistaken. They will be exposed, and they will discover what others in the past have learned: Those who make war against the United States have chosen their own destruction.

As a Navy wife I'm still scared, even though I know my husband's on one of the safest damn places on this earth right now (a fast attack sub) currently on 6 month deployment.

It only looks that way. Read Smogger's post. He said it way better than I ever could. We are on their battlefield, all over the world, and we should acknowledge who they are, and use our public face, and their ignorance, for Psyops purposes, if we love our troops, and want them home as fast and as safe as possible.
I did and replied - #198.
I separate what our troops are doing and what the Citizens at home do. I wouldn't even suggest that we control the "public face", and I don't think you are either. . .
