Democrats, in the name of tolerance, plan to demonize conservative Christians as being like the Taliban, according to an article in Newsweek.

Democrats "are planning a daring assault on the most critical turf in politics: the cultural mainstream," political correspondent Howard Fineman writes.

The whole purpose of an army is to kill and destroy. Now liberals want to use it to build. I have a feeling that this reveals something perverse about the liberal mindset, but I can't quite figure out what.

If you are a pornographer, it calls your filthy exploitation freedom of speech.
If you are a slave to sin, it names your shackles, FREEDOM.
If you are a coward, it offers its own false security.

Comparing the religious Christian right to the Taliban simply won't pass the suspension of disbelief test with most Americans who are otherwise somewhat apart from the CR. The Dems won't do it. They are not suicidal idiots. Whomever is pushing this scenario is on crack on this one IMO.

I totally agree. This crap might have passed before, but the democrats are changing their tune on issues like the military to prove it is them that is not out of the mainstream. What happened right after the most horrific attack on America? People flocked to the churches to pray and the Bible quickly became a best seller. This is just about the dumbest political plan I could think of barring something like outright support for Osama Bin Laden. I hope the democrats do this because its such a stinker, but I don't think they are that stupid.

"Earlier this month, Texas A&M University quietly decided to begin automatically admitting the top 20 percent of students from 250 low-performing and predominantly minority high schools in the state. At other high schools — with mostly white students — the bar for automatic admission will remain at 10 percent.

The UCSD experience was that 83% of unqualified students admitted under the "affirmative action" programs dropped out before the end of the first year. Once the students are admitted, they find themselves in a ruthlessly competitive environment. The other students have no intention of lowering their own performance to permit the unqualified to compete. This is especially true in pre-med programs. The net effect is lost opportunities for qualified students that had to be excluded to make room for the unqualified ones and total waste of taxpayer subsidies of the university system. The unqualified ones acquire the added stigma of college drop-out as well.

It just looks like the Catholic church is today bidding fair to MAKE itself the basis of a "one world religion." And the charismatic movement is the least they have to worry about. The church which years ago said a person had to explicitly claim Roman Catholicism or be lost (at least they took the exclusivity message of Christianity seriously) is now even trying to embrace Islam and saying that unconverted non-Christians are on their way to heaven if they believe in one God (only renegade Catholics are barred). That's a nice, well meaning gesture on their part; if I really believed that God had vested me with the authority to dictate who gets into heaven, I'd do it too; but it isn't biblical.
